As in, Magic the Gathering. Any ol’ pack, but I’m looking for Chinese ones in particular. I walked into Comics Revolution to realize that they only sold manga… And anyone I asked didn’t seem to know what I was talking about.
Also, I gather from the lack of response to my where-can-I-find-fencers post in the Sports board that fencing (the sport) isn’t really big in Taiwan?
Good to know… so I probably don’t need to bring my childhood collection of really old (Like Legends / The Dark) MTG cards here in the hope of selling them for a good price
I was recently with my good friend Funk500 in the area under Taipei main station and saw a shop that deals in that stuff. It’s a maze down there, so I can’t give specifics, but I suggest you send my fellow Travel mod a PM. I’m sure he’ll guide you in the right direction.
I have lots of friends that play Magic in the Seattle area and it would be really fun to bring them some of the regionally-specific cards. I hope you get an answer.
FWIW, I did see people playing Magic at Witch House near NTU last Sunday afternoon… not sure if any of them speak English as I didn’t try to introduce myself to that table when looking for the game group that organizes itself here. I’d already introduced myself to three tables of people that were playing games but didn’t speak English, and that was all the mortification I could take for one day. :aiyo: I repaired to the frozen yogurt shop to recover!

Disclaimer: I’m sure there is a healthy MtG following in TW (there has to be!). The blank looks I got are definitely more a result of my, er, not knowing what they’re called in Mandarin/the really awful drawing I tried to provide. Heh heh.

There is actually a pretty healthy MTG community in Kaohsiung. Although most players do not speak English, most understand it and if you are willing to put up with miming some more complicated board states a game can still be played with minimal inconvenience.
I will be relocating to Taiwan come Feb and would bring along all the cards needed to play Standard and Extended, so if anyone here who are looking for English speaking MTG players feel free to hit me up.
