Major Lifestyle Change

I’ve decided to share this with my fellow Formumosans. I felt it would be best to share this with the “Home Team” since I have been living in Formosa for almost 30 years. For almost two years now I’ve struggled with finding an identity here in Forumosa after a series of life altering occurrences and two failed love affairs, loss of my health, a crappy court case and financial problems. I’ve recently decided to abandon my dreams of becoming a security expert for the executive security company Xe (formerly known as Blackwater).

It was therapeutic. The training was great. The long runs in the jungles, the distance hikes in boots and pack. Throwing knives at trees, the blowgun hunting (sorry little starlings and doves!) Learning to live off the land. I lost weight, got my health back and became a successful over 40 surfer. I learned a lot about the world and myself.

The Krag Maga lessons taught me how to kick ass effectively. And to kick someones ass while screaming at them in Hebrew. How fucking cool is that! Although I did injure my knee.

I think even learning Arabic wasn't a complete waste of time either. Heck I might even land a job in the future in Dubai or some other Arab speaking places-like- Kashmir or Amsterdam. (In-shallah)

I learned how to sharpen a knife with a ceramic pot, how to navigate over open ocean without a compass, how to hotwire a car with a lighter, a piece of wire and chewing gum, how to spearfish octopus at night with a spear made with bamboo stick and a carving knife. How to dress a field wound with tampon and a tube of superglue. This was all fool's search for an inner El Dorado. A land of Hot Gold and Spicy Latin Women. Instead... I found more of an inner Singapore-a land of warm beer, cold women, too many damn rules (and crappy weather.)

I’ve decided to free myself from my prison. My psychic Singapore. If any of you are old enough (or American enough) to remember the old TV show The Andy Griffith Show

This show was set in an idyllic Southern town in the 50's in a small place in Mayberry, Alabama. Where there was no crime or (oddly) no black people. The sheriff never carried a gun, the deputy had only one bullet and there weren't any gas sniffing meth-heads hanging out at the Piggly Wiggly. There was a character in the town. Otis Campell who used to lock himself in the town jail when he was on a bender. A self-imprisoning town drunk who worked at the glue factory.

I found in him a symbol of the self-imprisoning man. Who locks himself in a cell for safety. I vowed I would not lock myself up I will imprison myself no longer. I was going to FREE OTIS!
OTIS O=Our T=tenacious I=Inner S=Soul. Free him!

For I have found my new calling. A new path that includes my lifelong love of dance, the pageantry of the Ice Capades that will help me someday search out-like an ancient conquistador
my - El Dorado ! Dancing to the land of HOT Gold and Spicy Women! Ladies and gentleman I give you my new Life calling :

                                                                    MEXICAN POINTY BOOTS!!!!!!!
