No they just lied about it, they claimed emails couldn’t be verified when they can be verified in just the same way all leaked emails are in the same way Wikileaks verifies them and the same way journalists always verify them.
Then they got 50 individuals who were from the intelligence community to lie about it and they made it clear they lied because they wanted to stop Trump and after the fact have said they are glad they lied to stop Trump and would do it again.
Then Biden got up on the stage at the debates and lied about it, no one cared and no one called him (in the media) because everyone knew stopping Trump was more important than lying about a laptop.

Daily Mail was verifying it early on, emails come with timestamps and hashes that are used for verification purposes, all journalists know this, you as an engineer know this.
