Mandarin only phone interview for buying medical gap insurance

I am working with a Cathay Insurance agent on buying gap insurance for catastrophic medical coverage. She mentioned that there is a mandatory phone conversation with some regional manager to confirm my understanding of the policy. The call is done in Mandarin only. I asked if a Mandarin speaking friend can translate or to use live translate during the call. The agent doesn’t think those options will work.

Has anyone who bought gap insurance come across this situation and how was it resolved? Is this specific to Cathay perhaps I should look for a different insurer?

Thank you very much.

Taiwan foolishness again. A major company not even employing one English speaker , a shame on them.
