My new apartment has a queen bed, 182x188, with a footboard that sticks up above the mattress service, which means my feet can’t hang over. I’ve been sleeping at an angle across the bed… and it sucks.
I figure if I can raise the mattress height by adding a foundation or box spring, it’ll solve things, but I searched and talked to a local friend and apparently they don’t exist here.
Pretty sure if I just stack two mattresses it’s going to be really wobbly. Might be ok if the bottom one is super firm but
The other idea is to have a woodworker guy build something for me, but I have no idea how I’d go about this.
First thought would be maybe stack 2 normal mattresses. IDK if they would clear the board enough to let the feed hang over.
A good, inexpensive slatted frame for ventilation is usually Euro pallets or wooden pallets. If you can find some, you can cut them to the right length and also stack them easily.
Normally, the Euro pallets or pallets with stamps are heat treated, so technically there should be no insects in them. In addition, they can of course also be sanded and treated with oil or paint.
These pallets would be an easy way to do it. Standard height is 15cm which should be just enough. No idea where you buy something like that tho. Also would need delivery
has feet but you could take those off.
EDIT: I messaged them and the dimensions aren’t what is shown, it’s the dimensions of the recommended bed size. So, too big.
