Hi everyone. I’ve searched online in English and Chinese and can’t find this out. Where in Taipei can I find meditation cushions for sale? Is there a yoga supplies store that sells them anywhere? Thanks for your help.
Wouldn’t any cushion do?
If it needs to be a specific one, perhaps try one of the Buddhist stores near Longshan Temple.
A lot of the meditation cushions here, well, suck. They are those strange rectangular ones that do not work for people with western sized bodies.
There’s only one store here in Taichung that sells the thicker, circular ones. Dunno about Taipei though. Search for a Dharma Drum English group (probably on FB) and post there, they should be able to direct you to a store.
And no, regular cushions do not work. You need a lot more support to place your whole body on then just a pillow for your head or a simple seat cushion (needs to be a little high to in order to comfortably sit cross legged) not just a gimmick, they actually are better suited for the purpose)
I’ve done a fair bit of mediation with Thai monks and with yoga masters in India, and the only thing they ever use is a rolled / folded blanket to sit on. I always figured the cushions / mats etc were more gimmick than anything.

The meditation center I go to actually uses the long rectangular ones…They work ok for me, actually. So if there’s a place I can get one of those, that would work. (The practitioners at the center didn’t know where I should go when I asked.)
Do you know where exactly in Longshan one of these stores is located?
