Meeting forumosans in Tainan

Hi all Tainan-ites,

I will be in Tainan this Saturday night, Oct 16.

It would be nice to meet some of you. If anyone is up for a few pints, send me a response. I believe one of the forumosans, Bismarck, has his own pub? Where is that exactly?

Anyway, hope to meet some of you soon.

Shit, sorry I only saw this now. I was out with a Kiwi mate knocking back a few pints on Saturday and you would have been more than welcome.

No pub owner here, though. Sorry. I imagine you’re thinking about BigAl. He has a pub called Willy’s in Jian Kang road in Tainan.

You should let us know earlier than the day before, mate!

How was the weekend in Tainan?

No worries. I’ll be back there soon, and I’ll give more notice. I didn’t do much, as it seems the “pub alley” doesn’t get started till later in the evening then when I stopped by. How is that area, BTW? I’ve been to the Cosby’s Saloon in Taichung and it is quite good.

That “pub alley” you refer to (the one with Cosby’s) is pretty lame. It saw it’s best years five, six or more years ago. Next time you come to Tainan I’ll take you down to Willy’s on Jiankang road for the best damn pizza in the south.

The food at Cosby’s used to be pretty good, but it’s damn near sucky now. It could be that when I first got here eight years ago I was desperate for anything western (steak etc) that I didn’t notice, but it seems they’ve gone downhill a lot. Especially since the lion’s share of their customer base in Tainan (the HSR engineers) left town…

Cheers!

Sorry bigjohn, just reading this today. Yeh come on down to willy’s and I’ll fill your belly with good beer and even better food.

As bismarck says just let us know a little bit of time before hand.

To that point if any forumosans want to come down then please introduce yourselves. My name says it all I’m big and I’m Al or Alun.

And if Taipei or the rest of the country wants to come down for ahappy hour/night I will make it as happy as possible.

Family wise we are a non smoking pub so bring yur families down aswell.

Indeed, we’ve been gabbing about a Tainan Happy Hour for some time. I think we should put some feelers out and see if we get any nibbles.
