Can you get melatonin tablets in Taiwan? My FIL bought some in Singapore and is looking for some more. (The kind that dissolve when put under your tongue.)
Does anyone know a store in Taiwan that sells them? Or, is there anyone going through Singapore airport who would be willing to buy some for me?

Thanks!![/quote]I don’t know where you can get ones that dissolve under your tongue.
The regular melatonin available here is organic (i.e. non-synthetic) and has pigs brain and mushroom extracts.
Can’t find it in GNC as it’s not “legal”. However pharmacies do sell it, if you ask for it. As Joesax said, make sure you read through the ingredients, if you find the pure stuff, let me know.
My sister-in-law introduced my wife to Melatonin over the summer, when we were in the US. So when we were there over CNY my wife bought a bottle at the local drug store (perfectly simple, over the counter in the US, though they’re banned in many countries). I’ve taken a few of them lately and found them very effective. They don’t knock me out as solidly as a sleeping pill, but they definitely lead to a deeper sleep.
Does anyone know exactly where u can buy melatonin in Taiwan (Taipei)? I looked and asked around (even near Mackay hospital like the previous post said) and people either say u cant buy it in Taiwan or they dont have it. Can you actually find it anywhere? Or is it completely banned?? Please help! Thanks!

As I said above though, it will most likely be made from organic extracts of pig brain and mushroom, not synthetic. The Chinese for Melatonin is: 褪黑激素 (tui4hei1ji1su4).
Well, I have asked for it in a few pharmacies (using the chinese for melatonin of course) and they say they dont have it or u cant buy it in Taiwan. So, I am wondering if anyone knows of a particular pharmacy that does have it, or a vitamin importer/etc. that has it or can get it. Or is this a hopeless cause now because it it banned or something? Please let me know any specifics, thanks a lot!!
I bought a pack at Taoyuan Int’l Airport International Departures terminal. Sorry, I don’t remember much more other than it was at the pharmacy at a far end down the new departures hall. It cost 900-1000 NTD for 30 capsules.
(I think there was a Coach store in that same hall. I could be thinking of another airport though, so don’t take my word for it. But I’m almost certain there was a Coach store because I was looking at some of the stuff and thinking oh my goodness, these same items are way overpriced here in Taiwan. Okok, OT.)
Sleeping aids are different for everyone, but these melatonin tablets didn’t really work for me. I did get groggy, but not enough to sleep for a few hours. My favorite pill is Tylenol PM when I have trouble sleeping. Tylenol PM knocks me out with one punch, it’s fantastic stuff.
The place just down the road from me here in Taichung had it, displayed in full view. I don’t know whether it’s synthetic or not.
They told me to take it 30 minutes before bed, which is standard sleeping pill advice and, so far as I can tell, completely wrong for melatonin. I’ve been taking one tab at about 7pm and another at about 9pm, and it’s done wonders for my sleeping.
Before this, I tried whole cocktails of regular sleeping pills and would still be lying there completely awake at 5am every night.
It is good for jet lag, and I use it sometimes when I can’t sleep. years ago, I’d have sexy dreams every time I took it. Now, that never happens, but I do have nightmares if I take it more than three nights in a row. Also, it loses it effectiveness if I take it more than two or three nights. I was advised not to take it while pregnant–or ever (that Dr. was also against prenatal vitamines, though). It has never effected my “woman’s time.”
So I have to be about to leave the country, in the Taoyuan Departures terminal to find melatonin near Taipei City? Does anyone else know where to find it in Taipei City, as most pharmacies iv tried said they dont have it or you can’t buy it in Taiwan. Thanks again.
