Men's fashion in Taiwan

Am I the only one with this song in mind while reading this thread?

It’s almost like appearances are more important for guys than girls or something INSANE like that.

This. Turns out I can do as good or better than the barbers I’d go to

Guys care about appearance.

Girls care about wealth.

Any other stereotypes we’d like to air?

I have a trimmer, but unfortunately, I am not coordinated enough to be able to do the fades properly. And just the clean up is enough for me to not want to do it myself.

oops, should have read to the bottom!

Yeah, but with the dead possum on their head, that looks great.

They are stereotypes for a reason I suppose.

The fading part is easy, just go from eg a #10 to a #8, #6, #4. Watch a few YT videos and you’re good

The cleanup is a pain, as well as all the contorting to cut it. How long do the blades last before they need replacement? If there was a solid brand of clippers with replacement parts that would last a long time I would consider it. But more than likely it’s just another heap of crap that goes in the landfill after a couple of years.

The U fade in Taiwan is ubiquitious and all pervading, I’ve given up fighting it.

I dunno, I’ve had mine for years and never change blades. It’s probably a Corsair.

11 months of the year. Tshirt and pants
1 month of the year. Same with a spring jacket.

Button up short-sleeved shirt and khaki shorts 12 months of the year.

Linen shirts, whatever bottom is appropriate for the weather, and wool socks with athletic shoes for me. Or flip-flops when there’s a typhoon outside. But I’m a woman.

I’ve tried to figure out fashion here. It’s unclear. Basic solid tops, jeans/shorts, comfy shoes it is. I could probably pull off the oversized everything look, but I’m not that adventurous and don’t like to buy things I’ll only wear a few times. Fast fashion sucks, but my understanding of it only makes me buy less clothes than I did before, which was very few to begin with…

If you did, you’d look like a student. It’s always better to act your age.

Linen, btw, is awesome for Taiwan’s sticky weather. I’ll have to check with @Brianjones to see if Yohji has any shirts left in stock.

Nooooo…I’ve been getting the ads for days already. :joy:

If I start to see an Irish guy in Taipei sporting Yohji’s oversized clothes, I will completely understand.

Why do we care how men are dressed?

It’s the 80s comeback…one more time.

We care Abt what people wear. Here guys are more stylish.

Now if we could get furriners in cargo shorts to drop the shorts…
