“Marley was dead, to begin with.”
And I shall go to sleep tonight listening to Patrick Stewart telling me how Marley was dead as a doornail. My eternal delight in the story and 19th century prose may mean I don’t get enough sleep and wake more curmudgeonly than is appropriate for Christmas Day, but so be it. By happenstance I don’t teach tomorrow, although there are other tasks to be done.
