So essentially, my buddy is half Taiwanese and he lives in the US. He has to take a break from uni and go to Taiwan to serve in the military. I’ve heard it can either be super hard or be super easy. I’m curious to hear of your experiences because I’ve also seen a news article where a person was basically “hazed” to death for snitching on higher ups for corruption or something of the sort.

How long does he have to do? It depends on his age.
Some (caucasian) American had a horror story about going to the army when he became Taiwanese back in the 80s. He was trying to sell a book though ¯_(ツ)_/¯
