Missionary Believed Killed on North Sentinel Island

Should the tribespeople be held accountable for their actions or do they exist outside of the law?

Serious question this time.

From what I read, Indian government seems to have given them autonomy.

It’s good they arrested the morons who brought him there and left him to fend for himself in a canoe.

The family of the missionary is calling for the release of the people arrested for taking him there. They are saying he went there on his own accord and nobody should be punished for his actions.

No limits blackjack here we come!

they must have been arrested by putting the tribe in danger.

pretty sure the Indians won’t be receptive to that

well, in the west they’d call you a bigot, in africa you could get stoned and/or stuck inside a burning tyre, in the middle east you could get stoned and/or thrown off a building…
Rough times for missionaries, he played his odds and decided to go for the good old remote island inhabited by fine people.

Yeah, I’m thinking they won’t hahah

This makes more sense

Their land, their laws.
The tribespeople might not be so inbred if they mix with the other three tribes on the islands.

All humans are a bit inbred anyway, i remember an estimate that says our population dropped to less than 10,000 in the past.

The night before John Allen Chau returned for the last time to India’s remote North Sentinel Island, he struggled with a sense of fear that his death might be imminent.

“I’m scared,” wrote the 26-year-old American from Washington state, who had travelled to the island on a clandestine mission to convert its inhabitants to Christianity. “Watching the sunset and it’s beautiful – crying a bit … wondering if it will be the last sunset I see.”

Lord, is this island Satan’s last stronghold where none have heard or even had the chance to hear your name?” he wrote in a diary of his last days provided to The Washington Post by his mother.

Ugh. I’m sorry, but I just can’t.

It’s sad. It’s a command in a literal reading of Christianity. Most people are able to apply some element of reason in the equation, thankfully.

Clear cut case of it Self Defense.

It’s some arrogance isn’t it ?

There are 100 people out of 7 billion population. , remnants of a stone age civilisation , and he still wants to fuck with them.

Arrogance, maybe. Definitely no small degree of delusion. It’s just foolish to expect God to be able to protect you from your own willful dumbassery.

iirc, in the US, homeowners can kill unknown visitors entering into their properties.

Yeah, but an isolated tribe on a remote island? That’s like porn for missionaries.

Should have stuck with Pornhub. At least when they shoot it’s not arrows.

Yeah, but where’s the challenge in that? Not much sense of accomplishment to be gained from a sore wrist. :sunglasses:
