Mitt Romney: worse than scum

Mitt Romney has made the most scumbag political attack that I have ever seen. I have NEVER seen a political candidate, let alone one running for POTUS, condemn the president for an attack. As most people have read about by now, the US ambassador to Libya and 3 others were killed in an attack by religious nutters mad about an anti-Islam film, made by none other than that Florida nutter who wanted to burn copies of the Koran.

So as this is all breaking last night, before anyone even knew the situation, Romney comes out and criticizes Obama for apologizing to the extremists. Just the fact that he tried to politicize this for his own gain is disgusting enough and is probably the WORST possible response. The problem is, his attack is COMPLETELY unfounded.

Here is the statement Romney criticized:

Here is what Romney said:

Here is what he doesn’t say:

  1. The statement by the embassy went out before they were attacked. It was the people who ended up being killed trying to defuse the situation who sent it out.
  2. The statement was never cleared by anyone outside of the embassy.
  3. This was not Obama’s first response, it was not ever his response. It was not a response by anyone outside of that embassy.

Romney issued his statement soon after the attacks, before anyone knew the ambassador was killed. He essentially criticized the guy who gave his life. No other sitting republican has tried to turn this into a political football. He hasn’t backed off today either, he’s still running his mouth on the campaign trail in Florida, while Eric Cantor, John Boehner, and other high profile, elected, and respectful politicians have condemned the attackers. I think by the end of Wednesday we will see high profile Republicans telling Romney to shut the fuck up.

This statement was not one of weakness. It was not an apology. The attack has NOTHING to do with Obama’s policies-that is a retarded argument. No president could be responsible for nutters getting mad about other nutters and their religious nuttery. If people want to defend the nutty pastor Terry Jones and say that he bears no responsibility, and that all responsibility lies with the attackers, on what fucking planet does it make sense to blame Obama for this?

Romney has proven beyond any shadow of a doubt that he is inept, unable to navigate international issues, disrespectful to the loss of human life, ungrateful for public servants who put their lives on the line every day, and in every way unqualified to be president.

QFT!

Yes, I was very ticked off this morning to read this news. I can’t believe it. He’s running for the higest office, but he’s not in it. It’s not his place at all to make such a remark in the first place, butthe statement is also blatantly untrue, such an obvious intentional misrepresentation of the situation, and an utterly reprehensible political use of the loss of lives to attempt to further his own personal agenda. Really repulsive.

So what?
It’s not as if Obama did not jump the gun quite a bit himself with the whole Seal Team 6 episode.

So what? Did he trash any “friendlies” on that?

Making political gain out of something is one thing; using it to falsely slander a rival is quite another.

-I’m awesome!

Where were you hiding when Bush was attacked by his political opponents for the insurgency in Iraq?

Was there an insurgency in Iraq? Yes, there was. Did the Bush admin bear a great deal of responsibility for it? Yes they did.

Did the Obama admin issue or approve the tweet that Romney is critical of? No they did not. Did Romney even get the time frame correct? No he didn’t (the tweet was issued before the embassy was attacked).

What a jackass. Romney is not fit to lead the free world. Not presidential material. Even his own advisors are criticizing him. Open mouth, insert foot. He really went off the rails.

Come on TM, more deflection??? By even suggesting this, it seems like you are condoning R-Money’s actions. Surely you can’t be that partisan, can you? Even the devil’s advocate needs to accept this goes beyond acceptable, nu?

Come on, TS. I laugh at accusations of partisanship raised by anyone against anyone else on this forum.

I’m not going to get dragged into an Iraq debate. This is a very different situation. If Romney felt the need to criticize Obama on foreign policy, he’s had ample opportunity. He has hardly mentioned anything about foreign policy, probably because he has no experience. He waited until there was a tragedy, one that has nothing to do with Obama’s policies, and pounced. Did he care enough to wait and see who had been killed? No. Did he wait for the facts to come in? No, not the Romney has ever been one to be bothered with facts. He waited until there was an attack and flat out lied.

He is a complete douche.

No, I can completely understand why you would not want to get involved in the Iraq debate. How about the 911 debate when Bush was in Florida and not in New York protecting our country? Or how about the hurricane Katrina tragedy when Bush was not filling enough sandbags to save New Orleans? or how about Bush when he was not doing enough to get our country out of the recession he inherited from Bill Clinton? except when he was getting blamed for the recession Obama inherited… The list goes on… Color me disgusted with cheap shots of ALL kinds and directed toward ALL presidents.

Most of those criticisms were made by the media, and none of them are untrue even if cheap (Bush was not in fact filling enough sandbags to save Florida, and he was in fact in Florida). They were also not made by presidential candidates in the run up to an election.

This was an outright lie and even after he knew it was a lie Romney has continued with it. It is not at all equivalent to distorting someone’s words or taking cheap shots.

Your attempts at deflection are admirable. Unfortunately, you fail to draw a single parallel to what Romney did yesterday and today. My issue is not with people attacking the president. Obama has many faults, all of which can and should be addressed. But to address them in the midst of an attack is beyond irresponsible. He had none of the facts. When it became clear he didn’t have all the facts, he continued the attack. His press conference from Wednesday morning is nonsensical.

Again, I say, he is a complete douche. And a liar.

(Cue “Clinton was a liar” deflection :unamused:)

Well, I’m just shocked that a candidate would criticize his opponent’s handling of a matter during an election… :astonished:

I’m not really following this matter, as I’m fairly busy, now. But, I know that not everyone agrees with the criticism some of you are making..

Whatever… :unamused:

Yup, quick glance at the comments section of that “post” makes it pretty clear how unbiased a rag the Examiner is. As douchey as RMoney himself I’d say.

You gonna vote for RMoney TM? Of course, you don’t have to tell us. I’m just curious if you think RMoney is capable of leading your country?

TS, you’re not even an American, and yet you’re one of the most vocally biased persons here regarding US politics.

Pot meet kettle.

The comments are the inevitable outcome of being linked by Drudge.

McCain, one of the few (mostly) reasonable Republican’s left, seems to support the State Department.

It’s a cheap shot by Romney but I think it will play well with the Drudgerite core.

The NT is tied to the US dollar. So yes, all of us here on the rock have a vested interest in what happens stateside.

And to be quite frank, I am unimpressed with BHO’s rhetoric and empty promises as much as the next guy and the dems’ cowardice leaves me cold. But RMoney is by and large the very worst choice all yinz could make. If Ron Paul were taken at all seriously, I think we’d have a real debate on our hands (gold standard notwithstanding). Just cuz I’z (?) not red white and blue don’t mean I don’t give a poo. I want to see my 1000NT worth 45 US dollars again.

Rmoney is a joke. Screw that guy. Wish there was a real change and hope guy to step up but I’d be happy to see a 2nd term with a Dem House and Senate. If that happens and still nothing changes, I’ll be first on the bandwagon to support Chris Christie in '16.

Hao bu hao?

You want to see the US dollar weaken?
