I have a UK mobile phone - a Nokia 8130 to be precise.
Its dual band so i already know I can use it in Taiwan.
I intend to get it unlocked, anyone know if can I put a Taiwanese SIM card in it?

As long as it’s an unlocked dual or tri-band GSM phone, it should work with Taiwanese sims. You won’t be able to read or write Chinese on it, but that may be a non-issue to you.
You need a Taiwanes guarantor to open an account for you, or you get a pre-paid account:
Go to 7-11. Open the back(of the phone, not the 7-11), take out the SIM, and show it to the person behind the counter. Point to the attractive packages hanging behind him with the word “IF” written on them in big letters.
Repeat “Iffu card” until he either gives you one or surrenders and finds someone to translate. Put the SIM into the phone just like the one you took out.
There’s a bit of jiggery pokery involved in getting the service activated. Not really sure as I’ve never had to do it, but you’ll find someone to help you out.
Actually, I have an old IF sim kicking around somewhere. Free to good home.

Yes.
Be sure to get it unlocked.
My own phone is an ex-UK 8210.
