MoI changed the ID Number format

What is the difference between this latest piece of news and what was announced last year?

New digital ID is planned. It may not include gender. But nothing about distinction of aliens.

But it includes all useful information for identity theft clearly visible.

My passwords are also my pronouns.

Any update?

words on the street is that NIA will start implementing the new ID next year.

No words on my street, just a drawing of a man on a scooter. :motor_scooter:

If they don’t change the ARC cards to match the Taiwanese national identity card checksum this change will be pointless.

design for new identity card (for nationals) has been approved.

With Chinese name signature?

Looks like a fake ID.

I wonder why 林 is pinyinized as “Ling”

Two different examples. Does that mean neither of these may be the real final product?

I guess people will be able to select the romanization of their name and not follow any standard like pinyin.

I mean it’s not the government’s right to tell someone how to spell their name.

Well, nothing gives us less hope knowing that the  knuckles doing this can’t even spell properly.

Looks like it doesn’t say birthplace… interesting, maybe I’ll be able to apply for things like a bank account at the post office and a Taobaozheng, because it won’t be obvious I’m born abroad…

Further news on the New ID Card

They are idiots if they put all information visible on the card, identity theft is huge in Taiwan.

Are the changes still on schedule?

I remember someone posting that it’s been put on hold due to that virus thing-a-ma-jig.
