More Kindergarten Inquiries

Hi everyone,

I have browsed many threads regarding kindergarten in Taipei but I can’t find any info that pertains to my situation. I am going to be in Taipei briefly from Aug-Dec and would like my four year old daughter to go to a public kindergarten. None of us will have ARCs. Many of the private school tuitions are way too high for us to afford. Can we enroll her without ARCs? We just want her to be able to socialize and maybe pick up a bit of Chinese. If this isn’t possible, does anyone have any leads on fun activities she could do during the day in structured environments? I just don’t want her to have 4 whole months of complete free time.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

My guess is that in order to attend a public school here, she would need to be registered on a household registration. Or and an ARC which would attach her to you…

I believe you also need to register for public kindergartens at least a couple of months before school starts. I don’t think it will work for you, unfortunately, but I could very well be wrong.

I am not sure public kindergarten starts by age 4.
