That lady is very pretty and I bet she’s a lot harder to handle than her F1 Savannah and even more expensive
F1 Savannah are 50pct serval
And can be way too wild for the home
I’m glad they cost as much as 20 to 30k USD so we don’t have one
Judging by the relative wildness of our F5 Savannah cats I really don’t want an F1 although they are gorgeous
F1 are also often illegal to keep or require a license and must never be let out
Frankly I’d be a little scared
They are just a little bit less dangerous than a bobcat
So half a bobcat is still pretty dangerous
You can tell just looking at that six month old kitten has a tendency to bite already snapping at its owners face
I’m concerned enough with the potential wildness of our 12 pct serval F5 savannah cats as it is
My cats are starting to fear them
You can tell they are headstrong and have no fear
I hope these kittens mellow out when they get older because like tonight it’s crazy
Maybe they are upset at the arrival of the two Scottish folds because previously they have been asleep by midnight and sleep through the night
Right now the folds are in with Tammy and Goldie in one room with the door closed and I’m in the guest room with Ollie and bunny and the door open to the rest of the house
And the Savannah kitttens have decided they don’t want to sleep and are doing zoomies
While growling and hissing at each other
It’s not their normal behavior
I’m sure the folds presence has tripped them up
It’s 130 am and we should all be sleeping
Lucky they are not meowing loudly because they got a voice that can carry a few houses down
The folds are quiet and sleeping while these two are acting like the cartoon Tasmanian devil
Are their meows more like roars?
The don’t sound like cats at all times
They have some vocalizations that are not cat
Urus has golden eyes like the rest of our cats
Funny the kittens don’t hiss at the adults or growl at them but they sure do hiss and growl at each other
Even though the Scottish folds are double the size of the Savannahs they seem scared of them
However Lady D did make her nose to nose introduction with Urus earlier
Wouldn’t it have been more apropos if Miura had done this with Urus?
Perhaps after a week they will be best buds
I think the kittens are making moves towards playing with each other now
Blanco is the only one with blue eyes in the bunch
Of my cats Poyay is most attached to me with Bunny a close second
Of the Savannah kittens Miura is a bit more attached to me then Lady D
While in the Scottish Fold camp Blanco seems to be by my side more than Urus
Cats and kittens choose their humans too
Meantime the savanna kits just got their first vaccination shots part one of three. Two more in two week intervals
I didn’t know savanna are a celebrity !! The staff at the vet were all oohs and ahhs and the vet ( nice looking Asian lady vet I never met before ) was thrilled too. Apparently no Savannah had been there before
She snapped some pics of them
And boy were they all inquisitive about them
Where did you get them? What’s their bday (legit question) ?
What generation are they (legit q)?
And now they are lying in the sunshine in the bedroom
Not sure if I should interfere
They could get sunburn ?
And…I didn’t notice Blanco’s eyes match the throw !
And I think we are bonding
There’s a new twist everyday
Poyay was initially the worry but since the kittens got here near three weeks ago Poy has warmed up to them and now he monitors them
Right now its 1230 and since the kittens have largely been sleeping all day due to the shots they are wide awake now
Only Poy and the savannahs in the living room for the night
Lady is bigger than her sister Miura and kind of picks on her and plays too rough
Poyay is following them around and when they get too rough he stops the fight
Right now as they ran past me and with Lady pinning down Miura I asked Poy to handle and he went and broke it up and them ran over to tell me … so cute
I praised him for his good work so now he’s following the kits around to make sure things stay civil
How are the kittens doing with carriers or strollers by the way? I recommend training them early to get into your pet carrier when you put it out.
The two folds run into their carrier soon as you put it on the floor
Their mommy trained them well
My cats I have to capture and stuff into the carrier.
We have a stroller but not planning to use it
None of them like it but can be trained I guess
Better start while they are young. Just let them associate the carrier with their favorite treats. When they are no longer kittens I think they’d be very hard to catch.
I find just sticking a carrier where the cat is, and stick cat pillows inside, the cat will often just go in there. They like enclosed space, it makes them feel safe.
Yes Goldie comes to mind he’s never been properly socialized so he is hard to capture
Funny he’s the most chill with the kittens though
The folds understand Spanish as they live in a Spanish speaking household
Our adult cats associate the carrier with a car
Ride which they hate and even worse the car
Ride
To the Vet
So soon as they see the carrier they scram to hide
The folds follow people around the house too
The cats take turns following me
I went to the bathroom this am and within a minute I got this
Todays the first day all cats had full run of the house without people supervision
And I was pleased to see the house in good order when I came home , nothing was out of
place or broken
Tammy came home before me and fed them a bit but when I came home they forgot they ate already and six out of the 7 cats showed up to greet me at the door
And I’m happy to report that the kittens are taking steps to play with each other although they are still doing separate zoomies
Savannahs do their zoomy while the folds do theirs like two competing teams
However being fed together right next to each other has them eating out of each others bowls and they don’t hiss at each other now
And are even starting to rough house together
I think they will be besties soon
Poy is still full time supervising and he seems to enjoy his role
He keeps all the kittens in check
He doesn’t allow them to get carried away too much
He has even allowed them to use his bed
Previously off limits to everyone including his siblings
And that’s a switch
Second full day of no adult supervision and seems the cats are working out a framework of cooperation and everyone seems to be getting on better
The kittens are starting to play with each other and all hang out with each other
Bunny is more accepting and not hissing at the kittens as much and doing more nose to nose greetings and so is Poy
Although Poy still asserting his authority with some choice swats
But you can tell he’s quite thrilled with his work tailing around and managing the kittens
Goldie still spends most of his time under the bed in the guest room because Poy remains mean to him for some reason
They had a falling out a month ago and I’m not sure the war is going to end
I may need to find the right new owner for Goldie
He is quite independent and shy and needs to be in a single cat family or maybe with a sweet girl cat
I feel bad for Goldie
We need some cat pictures
