This is such a sad tale…
I had seen Stimpy’s name and avatar and was looking forward to getting to know him or even meet up some time… Any Ren & Stimpy fan is a friend of mine
Hope he does come back, his missus sees the light and everything ends up ok…
Take Care Stimpy, you bloated sack of ectoplasm!
FALUNKUNG is just crazy. An invention of one man. IM surprised it has caught on to so many . China gets blasted for banning this crazy “religion” but they are right to do so.
Whoa! They might be seriously misguided fools, but I don’t think the PRC has got it right on the Far Flung Dungs at all. Or do you want to extend the state’s courtesy to believers of all fiction?

Not really. But I guess that depends on your definition of “fiction”…

Thank you. 95% of the world believe in a higher power. Let the people be able to choose their way…
Hey, by all means choose whatever route you like, I’m just suggesting it’s better you don’t get tortured and shot for your options . . . well, just yet anyway.
Really, you simply wouldn’t believe what a lonely thankless life it can be for us illuminati.
Actually this is one of the hundreds of so called “religion”, we call that “sect” (mormon, Jeowa witness, Sientologists, Hare Krishna, Raélien, AUM). She could also have fallen on those white tied guys riding on bikes all day long to get some lose souls in Taiwan and of course other part of this world to brainwash people. It would not have been better for you.
My biggest fear is not that my son or family member becomes gay, or a cop, or handicaped, but be involved into one of this sect. I would lost him forever, it’s worse then dead.
I chose not to follow any of this path (religion), I follow my own path and avoid to get brainwashed by strangers telling me how good I should be according to them in order not to go to hell. :loco:

Maybe I do… :saywhat: …But I’m not telling. If I did. It’s a secret, see.

But they are such nice young men. They even asked me if they could help me once when I was eating my dinner in the park.

I’m a catholic. I could be tortured or shot for my choice. But it wouldn’t by my choice to be tortured or shot as I’m not upset with my choice.
Poor stimpy, I hope you are willing to let the commuity know what happened next in this sordid tale - also I see you move out from the shadows the FLG-possession of your ex GF cast over your life. Things will be become better and better from now on, no doubt about that.

Otherwise, as the chief purveyor of fiction in China, the CCP would be in the awkward position of having to lock itself up.

My biggest fear is … that my son or family member … be involved into one of this sect. I would lost him forever, it’s worse then dead.
Volcan, I understand your fears. However, I think you should calm down a little and become more informed.
New religious movements, such as the ones you mention above, are quite different from each other. Some are benign and are arguably forces for good in the world (I’m aware that there has been some controversy surrounding the Hare Krishna movement, however I feel that they can be placed in this category). Others are kind of neutral. Some are not good at all. But comparatively few exert such a degree of control over people that those who really want to get out cannot.
Knowledge is the most powerful defense anyone can have against those new religious movements which are potentially dangerous. Having access to information about a religious group’s origins and leaders lets people make informed choices.
In fact, this kind of knowledge is very important for anyone who is thinking of involvement in a religious group or tradition, whether old or new, mainstream or fringe. (And it can of course give one a greater sense of respect for the truly good religious traditions).

Why is it so lonely for you? You didn’t have all the old masters and your collegas bumped off just so your would progress uf the corporate ladder faster did you?

Nah, noboday shoots catholics anymore… grew tired of that sport. Long since the lions 8 catholics 0 arena events have been held.
My dear Joesax, I have a lot of experience with religion and sect. One of my family member used to be brainwashed in one of this discusting so called “house of god” :loco:
Don’t tell me I need to be informed !!! I am and I do read enough books to understand what is this all about. I just don’t need help from someone else that tells me what is good and what is wrong, I can judge by myself.
Krishna is one of them, the other I listed before are not better or even worse. You maybe in one of them, maybe you need to have some ordinary fellow telling you what you should do in order to avoid burning in hell, but realy, how much of the bible do you follow? What about your friends? Come on, admit it, you just use what ever is good enough for you.
But there is the problem, not everyone has the knowledge and those who haven’t are potential prey for gurus and religious predators.
Truly good religion tradition? hum… let me think… The past tought me about inquisition, tortures, witches burning, crusade and so on. Tradition???
Just try to follow 3 rules
Respect others
Respect the nature
Don’t be greedy
If you do so you shall go to heaven !!!
I will soon create a new religous group called !!! ““Volcan’s secret book of the finaly true rules””
Anyway, keep praying, I keep trying to follow my 3 rules.

Krishna is one of them, the other I listed before are not better or even worse.
I’ll agree to disagree on that.
You maybe in one of them, maybe you need to have some ordinary fellow telling you what you should do in order to avoid burning in hell, but realy, how much of the bible do you follow?
I don’t follow the Bible, though I respect many of those those who do.
What about your friends?
Huh? Many of my friends aren’t particularly religious. But my Christian friends follow the Bible, my Muslim friends follow the Koran, etc.
Come on, admit it, you just use what ever is good enough for you.
I think that choosing a religion that is “good for oneself” in the truest sense is what every aspiring religious practitioner must do. Is there any other way it should be?
But there is the problem, not everyone has the knowledge and those who haven’t are potential prey for gurus and religious predators.
We’re going round in circles. I am suggesting that people who are interested in particular religious groups, but who have insufficient knowledge about the origins and leaders of those groups, should inform themselves. Sound alright to you?
many of us feel that religions suck, all of them, but that is no reason to go banning them. if you want to join the scientologists, the moonies, the Falun Gong, that is your problem. this is the beauty and the paradox of a free society.
AumShunRyi in japan, wacko Waco christians, etc go that step further and are justly attacked on criminal grounds rather than religious ones.
OTOH, banning them is not a sensible answer. where would you stop? you would have to ban all religions then, as there is no line you can draw and say ‘the rubbish on that side is forbidden, and the rubbish on this side is tolerated’.
china is not banning them for religious reasons, but because they represent a threat to the state, where the law of the cult is put above the law of the land. (even tho there is no real rule of law in china) the CCP has the same problem with the catholic church in china, where the position of the pope as a supreme leader is damaging to their ego.
now, if you could stop people from joining by education, or change their mind afterwards, you would be well within your moral right to do so. but many times you can’t, so let it go and concentrate on living your own life.
but losing a partner to this perversion would be just as terrible as losing them to cancer…
Agreed, naturally. But you gotta admit, we wouldn’t have cults if we didn’t have religions, right? One is the foil to the other. Dawkins’ new book says that the fundamentalists who commit acts of terrorism wouldn’t be able to operate if there weren’t so many non-fundamentalists who practice a similar religion — equally applicable to WTC or N. Ireland…
true, but look again at my prev post: there is a moveable line between cult and religion, and there is no justifiable point that covers all situations where you can step in and make the cut.
anyway, not all cults are dangerous. look at star trek…
so frank, are you happy with your choice of flag there? what kind of comment are you making? is it IRONY or is it somethingmore sinister. like a CULT?
I’m happy w/ my choice of flag. I used to have St Kitts/Nevis up there. But no one ever heard of that ‘country’. Ditto for taiwan. Hands up if your friends think you’re in thailand… and… hands down.
It’s hard to say what point i’m making, irony or not, by hosting the chinese communist flag. Personally, I am insane enuf to believe that Taiwan should become part of Japan, as Lee Tung Hui once proposed… and then… he dressed up as a super samurai… that was a wikked pic.
I’m really not that concerned about China, though. They’re no more communist than anyone. It’s just a name that they have to apply to their current form of govt. Just like this quote:
“When fascism comes to amerika, it will come in the name of democracy” — huey long
I can’t remember the exact words. But look up James Carey and you’ll see where I’m comin from. Seriously, that dude has his tsai together.
I guess that when I was making the distinction of “cult vs religion”, i’d reclassify it this way: a cult is immediately and permanently harmful to your health, and bank account. A religion is a slower poison. But only slightly slower.
