Navy Strength Gin

Anyone know where to get Navy strength Gin in Taipei or New Taipei. Distilled in England is a must with real juniper not juniper flavor. I like to mix it with my Earl Grey tea.

I’m assuming you’ve checked 買酒 and 象木桶?
Those tend to sell a lot of western liquors.

I’m not a gin drinker, but trying to stick to your requirements:

If Scotland would be acceptable:

I’m not sure about whether either of these use real juniper rather than juniper flavor. There was a Swedish navy strength one on there too, but I’m guessing that’s too far outside the criteria:

Good recommendation. Yes, only England or the Netherlands for gin for me… Thanks for the links.

I want it from England.

Scotland ok?

But, just curious, why England? I’m not a gin person so am entirely curious. Netherlands, even more curious. Is it trust, or a system/style they Excell at? Perhaps ingredients grown in England?

Well Gin is from the Netherlands , but England excels at gin making and has a very deep history with it. Gin was once the most popular drink in England until it was made illegal due to Ginism. One of the nick names for Gin is “Mother’s Ruin”. Its full of herbs and the main ingredient is the Juniper berry which has calming properties. Juniper also grows well there. I suggest you brew some Earl grey tea, mix it with gin. Cool in the fridge before drinking. The Bergamot and Juniper mix well. Additionaly if one suffers from an acidic stomach then good quality dry Gin has a ph of around 7 to 8. It also is low on sugar rivaling non grain vodka.
This week I have been consuming London dry gin with Twinings Earl Grey 50/50 mix.

Very interesting, thanks for explaining that. Ginism, that’s on the list to read about, seems some interesting history there.

The early grey point also interesting. Kind of intrigued on that now. Taiwan in revent years has a fad of “craft” gin. Noticed lots of it, but not being a gin person never tried. Also seemed to be the usual marketing campaign.

I know it’s not your main inquiry, but curious how you think about these new ones popping up in taiwan?

I like the idea because spiced clear spirits is attractive to me.

Last question…the place I’m staying this week only has beefeater gin hehe. I always keep early grey tea on hand. Works, or wait to pop the cherry on a better gin?

Cheers old chap, but that sounds truly awful

Oh thats great , that one has real Juniper. Enjoy. Most people just go for the Gin and Tonic but I prefer the Earl Grey mix. Let me know if you find any other enjoyable mixes!

I had a look in this place, because I was passing by with time to kill so went in for a browse. They didn’t have anything matching your requirements (or really any navy strength at all — I think there was only one from Germany).

(I realize this isn’t very useful for answering the question, but it at least rules out this particular branch of what I think is one of the bigger chains.)

Doesn’t appear to have navy/cask strength gin but he might. A German guy in Ruisui making spirits.
