Anyone know where I can get memory for a computer with an ASUS SP97-V motherboard (AMD k6-2 233Hhz processor) ?
Need 4 x 64MB probably PC100 or 133 ?
Anyone got an old hard drive lying around they don’t need ?

I can spot you the HD. Any particular size limit?
There are two or three second hand computer shops along Ba De Lu near Guang Hwa. One is in an office building on the right hand side (walking away from Guang Hwa) at the far intersection (there’s a small sign in CHinese standing outside the building). The other two are on the same side on the second floor (look for a narrow staircase heading up.

Cheers ! Not at all, just an IDE drive because the one I’ve got is 6Gb - a bit small.
If you pm me we could meet up somewhere and I could buy you a beer or several for your troubles.
Does anyone have an old USB 1.1 PCI card? If yes, PM me with the brand name, model and price you want…
I’ll be damned - I have an old P133 computer that I haven’t used in years and have just decided to junk. The only thing I’ll be removing is the gargantuan 1.8 GB HD. Everything else in there is yours if you want it - but I want someone to take the whole thing, not parts. You can take what you want from the beast and junk the rest.
PM me if interested.

You should check what HD sizes your motherboard BIOS can recognise. In theory you could also attach an 250GB model - but your computer may show only 10G…
I hadn’t considered being offered anything that big, but you’re right.
The memory is the real bugger - can’t get anythin old enough except by mail order from Kingston.
You realize that you could buy a new system that blows your old computer away for less than NT10,000, right? It might be easier than searching endlessly for old parts.
I am not sure if you are going to want to pay the prices for the old RAM, I looked into upgrading the RAM on an old Pentium III on which I am running Linux. At Nova, only two shops stocked the older RAM and both of those wanted more for PC133/256 MB SDRAM than for a DDR 400 512 MB. Of course they said it was because they were the last ones in stock.
If you know anyone flying back from the U.S., you can still get PC100 RAM cheap there. (Not as cheap as PC2700, unfortunately.) Pricewatch quotes PC100 64MB sticks at US$10 each (including shipping), or PC100 256 at US$36. (PC2700 is US$24 for a 256MB DIMM.)

Have you tried the second hand shops? Otherwise, if you can read Chinese, tw.bid.yahoo.com and tw.ebay.com Stuff goes for real bargains on there.
