I know this is true for foreigners who intend to start a company, such that capital for his shareholding must be transferred from overseas.
But what about purchase of condo ? Do we need to show proof that the funds for the purchase of the property are remitted from overseas ?

No (at least not that I’ve ever heard of). Most foreigners I know of who have purchased places here did it at least partially with money they earned here. At no point in the purchase process does anyone ask where the money came from.
I have never heard of this either.
