Need your help in this matter

:help:
Need your advice. I am being transfered to my headquarters in Taipei. They haven’t started the work permit application yet. But I need to go there earliar than the date of the application approval.
Are we allowed to go there and work while the work permit is in process.
or do I have to wait for the permit.
Does anyone know what I can do to speed up the process on this side.
I am getting all kinds of advice from friends but dont know which only are valid.
Can someone help me out. Thanks people.

No you can’t legally work but everyone does. Just go on a tourist visa and apply for the wprk permit once you get here. If your work permit application is in they’ll not hassle you. Depends on how efficient your company is. Make sure that if they fuck it up, that any visa runs you have to do they pay for. The application should take 10 days to a week for a non-teaching job.

This is right; it’s the accepted way of doing things here. Ever ask about processing an ARC through a Taiwan Trade Mission abroad? They’re more than likely to tell you to arrive on an extendable tourist visa and apply for the ARC internally (re: within Taiwan).

Good luck,
CK

Now i do have two more questions.
my HR in Taiwan asked for work experience certifcate what is that. You know we only have resume here in ther states. Is my resume acceptable. or do i need some kind of form.
Last is my education certificate I am going to assume that is my college degree. Do i just make a copy of it or do they need some sort of form also.
Thanks folks…

well if it does take 10 days for a non-teaching work permit. then I guess i will be in TW by aug…

Notes: (1) Any documentation from outside Taiwan must be “certified” by the nearest overseas Taiwan Representative Office.
(2) Work Experience Certificate – this is probably a letter from your previous employer(s) outlining your experience.
(3) When you apply for your visa, don’t say that you are coming to Taiwan to work. Say that you want to visit the Taroko Gorge in Hualien.
