Same in most countries though apart from those that sell citizenship (except for renunciation). In comparison Taiwan is more flexible in having different criteria for citizenship for senior professionals.
If they simply removed the requirement for renunciation (for non senior professionals) it would go a long way in terms of attraction and retention.
Thanks for posting this summary. I remember reading about a provision to allow spouses of foreign (special?) professionals to have open work permits. Did that make it to the final legislation?
