New hotel in Yamay---where the hell is Yamay?

Where the hell is Yamay? And how can they have a gaming license?

A bit of googling reveals it to be a theme park/resort near Taizhong. www.yamay.com.tw

It’s a pretty fun place. just off the huoli exit. They have a waterpark too. I don’t know how they can have gambling.

It’s just bingo and cake raffles.

In the wave pool, they won’t let you go in deeper than chest height unless you’re wearing a lifejacket.

The fast waterslides are fun though.

IM surprised the TW aborigini are not clamoring to be like the US Indians and demanding Indian Casinos ? The Indians in the states are cleaning up because of Injun Casinos. Wow they are becoming the upper class here.

Course the Chinese that landed on TW didnt really decimate the TW aboriginis, they just married them away in numbers. Everyone born on TW of Chinese stock has Aboriginal genome I read.

Thats probably smart because not long ago at a waterpark around here (bay area, usa) a kid drowned in a wave pool. Many lifeguards around but no one saw him in time. It was tragic. So I do think that kiddies should always wear a preserver. Adults no, unless you really cant swim.

My girls had a day off school yesterday, and we went to Yamay. Due to a lack of swimming trunks, we went to the traditional amusement park, IE not the water park.

I visited it in 2002, and it was good and brand new back then.

In the meantime, they have however skimped on maintenance, and that shows. Wonder what the big rusty thing with the golden orb in the rear is, anyone know? (There’s a cactus garden in front, but it looks like something they gave up on when halfway through).

It could do with a shit load of maintenance, I would say, the Tivoli gardens in Denmark, do the place completely up every spring. If I were them, I would start to add a new ride every year, and then market the new ride more heavily.

I was not hapy to see rides looking like they had not been really maintained since they opened, especially the rollercoasters.

I was there last sunday and i found taiwanese people are funny.

It’s a freaken water theme park, so prepared to get your face wet and for those Taiwanese girls, it’s a theme park not a beauty contest so stop worry about your makeup.

Pretty much those people who go there can’t swim at all, and I guess Taiwanese people just don’t know how to get out of their living spaces and just enjoy the water. Oops, if my sister sees me writing this, she will get pissed off at me.

Yamay is on the way to Taipei from Taichung, only 1 hour on the road. Foromsa villiage is fun if you enjoy going up the mountains and they do have awesome rollercoaster and that freefall maching and it’s better than sex.

oh yeah,

They had this rollercoaster that was the first one to be made in the world. The whole carriage takes you to the end of the rail and hang you from horizontal to vertical and when ready, you are freefall and fanging around the lop.
