New immigrant development agency will oversee planning, research, consultation, coordination, and promotion of services related to education, employment, empowerment, care, and other services as needed by new immigrants.

“New immigrants” as specified in the New Immigrants Basic Act are defined as foreign nationals or stateless individuals who have been afforded residence through marriage with a Taiwanese national, foreign professionals who have been granted a work permit and approved for residence, or Chinese nationals who are granted residency through ad hoc programs.

A ridiculous article. It doesn’t even explain what this agency is suppose to be about. Is it a thinktank for the government, like the NDC? Will it duplicate services provided by the NIA? Will it—please god yes—be a dedicated agency making visits to the HHR office unnecessary?

After reading that article, I have no idea what they will be doing.

Knowing Taiwan, it will be a slush fund agency to give government workers a job but without any practical help afforded immigrants. I hope not but I’ve come to not expect anything else.

I think it will be something like the Gold Card office, but open to all foreign residents.

Very strange , jobs and money involved anyway. Why create a new agency ?

You know that you know why… :victory_hand:

Problem is all government agencies budget is frozen. The Legislative branch stopped all expenditures and reduced the budgets to a fraction of what it is supposed to be. So where will they get the money is mysterious as currently it is impossible.

So kool this idea
