Before Abe, there was about 6 or 7 different PMs in as many years. I think post-Abe the same instability will happen. Japan only seems to glom on to a PM lasting more than 5 years once every couple decades.

Same with After Abe.

Abe was the first PM in that long line of succession.

Kishida岸田 文雄) is the winner. Quite exciting to watch, and as the two are sitting and waiting. Seems be good for Taiwan Japanese PM candidate urges cross-strait crisis preparations: report - Taipei Times

Kishida Fumio won the ruling Liberal Democratic Party’s (LDP) leadership contest Wednesday (Sept. 29), virtually ensuring his promotion to prime minister within days.

During his campaign, the former foreign minister described Taiwan as an “important partner.”

The LDP formed a Taiwan task force in February and in August launched a framework to discuss foreign policy and defense affairs with Taiwan’s ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

Solid relations between Japan and Taiwan ahead!
