New owner for a beloved Ford Escape?

Hello everybody,

We’re selling our beloved Ford Escape 2.0. He was made in 2003 and just reached 200,000 km last week. We call him Kapi.

We’re hoping someone can still get some enjoyment out of him. It feels a bit sad to recycle him, but it doesn’t make financial sense for us to keep two cars.

The Good:

  • Upgraded media system (2014) with CD/DVD, Bluetooth, USB-A, and more.
  • Rear camera with parking sensors and a front camera included.
  • He can cruise at 110+ km/h on the highway and climb steep mountain roads. It takes him some time to get there, but he always makes it.
  • He has a massive trunk and a high seating position that gives a great view of the road. He is still compact enough to fit through narrow Taipei streets and parking lots. He works well as both a utility and a family car.
  • He is safe and sturdy. Scooters tend to keep their distance because a collision would not end well for them.
  • He is a very common model in Taiwan, so spare parts are easy to find and most mechanics know how to repair him.
  • Vehicle license tax ($11,230) is paid until April, and fuel tax ($6,180) is paid until July.

The Not-So-Good:

  • His acceleration is not ideal, and he needs some time to reach highway speed from a full stop.
  • His fuel consumption is quite high, especially in the city.
  • He is a 22-year-old car and requires maintenance and repairs from time to time. We have replaced several major parts in the last two years (AC, petrol pump, oil pump, water pump, alternator, and more), but you should have some patience for an older car with a bit of personality.

We’re looking to get around NT$50,000, but we are also open to creative exchange or barter offers. We’d be happy to hear what you have in mind.
