New Year's Fireworks Festival Taipei 101 - 1/1/2021

Looks like Taiwan and Taipei may be one of the few places in the world that will hold a New Year festival this year. Many like New York and Tokyo have already been canceled.

I’ll still be watching it from the comfort of my living room, anyway.
I’m not that patient to face the traffic and the crowd anymore just to inhale fireworks smoke.

And another @tango42 topic saved!

Standing in the rain with 500,000 sheep all saying “wow, Hao piaoliang, zhende hen piaoliang” for two minutes then queuing for two hours to get into a hotpot restaurant.

Good times.

If it’s still going to be on this New Year’s Eve, then perhaps I should book a place to stay in either Taipei, Keelung, New Taipei, or Taoyuan for the night. I lived in Taoyuan last year, and when I went to Taipei for the New Year’s Eve festival at 101, I was able to take the local commuter train and back. Now, I live further south. So I may have to consider doing one of two things. Either rent a car and drive up there (because the HSR will not run extra trains after midnight), or spend the night at a hotel.

Buses run 24/7

Only in Taipei.
I don’t live in Taipei I told you.
I live in the southern side of Taiwan.

No… Kuokuang and Ubus run long distance buses 24/7. I frequently go south and take the night buses.

News reports bus $400 round trip TP KS during this holiday. I think the government is subsidizing bus companies to stimulate spending, travel, other stimulations.
