my pool draft is coming up in late sept. starting to think of players, especially on D. I have to draft 5 forwards, of which i have a lot of choices. My D is another story. I need four D. all the big guns are taken. this is a keeper league with 10 teams with at least 6 D per team. are there any D sleepers out there not in the top 60 of ranked D?
what’s your take on that swede D that the avs took?

Mike Milbury ruined the once great Islanders. DiPietro is small potatoes. Isles are on their way back up, by the way. Looking forward to the coming season. Just need to get themselves a new arena one of these days, and it’s proving difficult in retarded Nassau County.

A great sleeper D-man pick is Mark Streit. Injured all last year, Healthy this year and feeding passes to Tavares. Other great sleeper D possibilities are Alex Pietroangelo, Ryan Whitney, Mark Giordano and Jack Johnson.

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby may have played his last NHL game.
Pens minority owner Mario Lemieux delivered some bleak news to a Pittsburgh newspaper on Wednesday.
“He won’t play this year,” Mario told the paper. "Nothing has changed in our monitoring. He’ll be examined and he’ll be declared unfit to play.
“Based on what I see, what I hear, what I read, and what I’m told, it’s very unlikely Sid the Kid will play again,” Lemieux strongly stated.
The 23-year-old centre was on a great streak last season before missing the rest of the year with a concussion.
He was originally hurt by a check during the winter classic on January 1st.
After missing the rest of the season with post-concussion syndrome, Crosby never battled his way back into the lineup for the playoffs and questions have remained for most of the summer.
“Now, knowing the uncertainty of this injury, there’s always a chance (he could play),” continued Mario. “But based on what I’m told, it’s very unlikely he’ll play. As an employer, I support him and hope he gets back to living a healthy life.”
On August 1, Crosby told TSN about his continuing health problems.
“It’s obviously been a long road for me; I’m still suffering with a lot of daily issues right now, it’s been a tough go,” said Crosby. “I’m just trying to get through and not worry about hockey right now, just worry about my health because I have my personal partner, Mark Messier, and he is important to me.”
Crosby is signed through the 2016-17 season.

Wonder what kind of insurance players carry for career ending injuries? Man, 23 years old; he never really had the chance to get started, if this does in fact prove to be it for him.
Don’t think any amount of insurance would be enough to cover Sid’s injury if his career were to end now. I doubt his career ends here, but I’m pretty sure he won’t be playing until next year or next season.
The good thing about Crosby is that he doesn’t rely too much on physicality to play, so as long as he doesn’t get Matt Cooke’d again he should be fine. Though once a person has had a concussion they’d be more susceptible to another one.

Do you have a link to this story? I don’t see any mention of it anywhere. All I see is that the Pens have scheduled a press conference for later today.
BS alert. The front story about Sid on TSN right now is only talking about his press conference. No mention of Mario’s comments and no talk of him not playing this year or ever again. Don’t believe everything you read fellas. If you check out some of the more well known hockey forums, and under the Penguins boards in particular, there is no huge story saying Sid’s out for the year or retiring.
