Hello everyone!
Are there night buses from taipei to taoyuan airport?
My flight is at 7 in the morning and i need to take a bus at around 4am. Help?!
Probably going to have to take a taxi or book a sedan (which may be cheaper than a taxi). Taxi is around 1200 NTD - 1500 NTD. I’ve booked sedans for 900 or so.
Alternatively, you could leave on the last bus to the airport (11pm - 12am or so from Taipei Main Station) and wait at the airport until time to check in.
Taxi should be 900 from Taipei.
First bus leaves at 4:40 am…
No traffic then. That should be plenty of time to get to a 7am flight.
I always catch the one outside of the Howard Plaza Hotel on Fuxing S. Rd.
If you think that’s too late, there are usually cabs waiting there who will take you to the airport for around NT$ 500.

Should be 大有. There may not be traffic but it takes a roundabout route by getting off the freeway in Nankan instead of transferring to the Number 2 Freeway, thereby greatly increasing how long it takes to get there. I’d say it’s a bit over an hour from Taipei Main… probably not enough time for a 7am flight.
It might not be a bad idea (if you want to save a few bucks) to just get there by the last bus and spend the night at the airport…
I think a taxi is best. Otherwise the last bus is 1.50am. So you’ll be there four hours early.
You’re supposed to be there at least 2 hours early anyways, because the plane TAKES OFF at 7am and you need the time to check in and stuff. So 4 hours isn’t bad.

Yes. My mistake.
Took it last night. Left the Howard Plaza at 8:00 and arrived at T2 at 8:33.
Finally, there is now a night bus between Taipei and the Taoyuan (TPE) airport.
It’s 國光客運 (Guoguang) bus 1819 (same number as daytime). The starting point is the West Bus Station (台北西站), just next to the main railway station. The buses follow their regular route: Guoguang and Taiwan Bus have the details, and the full information on the night service is in yet another place on the Guoguang website.
The departures are as follows:
From Taipei: 01:20, 02:20, 03:20;
From TPE Airport Terminal 1: 02:20, 03:20, 04:20;
From TPE Airport Terminal 2: 02:30, 03:30, 04:30.
Note that in Taipei, the night departures are from the West Bus Station, Bldg B, 1st Platform (台北西站B棟1號月台), exit Z5 from MRT Taipei Main. For the record, the last two regular buses from Taipei leave at 23:50 and 00:20 respectively, and the first one is at 04:30, and these, just as all the other daytime buses, depart from the West Bus Station, Bldg A, 5th Platform (台北西站A棟5號月台), exit Z3. I don’t know how this could possibly be made more confusing but fortunately these two buildings are at least next to each other.
And if you need to check the last MRT from your nearest station, it can be done at the TRTC website: click a station on the map, and then the brown PDF link.
There’s also an early service to the TPE airport at 04:00 from the Songshan (TSA) airport, passing MRT Zhongxiao Fuxing and Xingtian Temple, operated by 建明客運 (Jianming) under the name 飛狗巴士 (Fei Gou, “Free Go”). Details are on Jianming’s website and on Taiwan Bus. For all other options, check the TPE airport website.
Please check the details at the source links or don’t blame me if something has changed since I wrote this (December 2014).
On a related note, here’s what I think the fastest bus transfer to and from the TPE airport is:
From the airport, take bus 1819, get off at Kulun St (庫倫街口), and take MRT from Yuanshan to your destination (cross Chengde Rd, and it’s about a 1-2 min walk).
To the airport, take MRT to Xingtian Temple, exit 3, walk north crossing Minquan Rd, and from the stop on Songjiang Rd directly in front of the temple take bus 1840 or 5502, whichever is scheduled to leave earlier (about 3-5 min walk).
Before the intersection, you will pass a stop for bus 5201, which also goes directly to the airport, but since you can’t wait for all three at the same time, you’ve got to choose, and on average this would be a longer wait. But if you see the bus there or a lot of people waiting for it (meaning hopefully that the bus is coming soon), you can give it a try.
Another option when going to the airport, untested but possibly even faster: take MRT to Sanchong Elementary, get out through the only exit, cross to the other side of Sanhe Rd, walk along Liuzhang St (六張街) and make the third right so that you reach Chongyang Rd (重陽路). This is where the most frequent bus 1819 stops just before hitting the freeway (about a 5 min walk).
It sounds more complicated than it actually is: here’s the path in Google maps, and what the stop looks like in Google Street View. The exact address is: #53 Sec 4 Chongyang Rd (重陽路四段53號).
The usual disclaimer applies. If you’ve done any of these or know a better way, please share your experiences.
