So this is about travelling in the UNESCO heritage area of Nikko in Japan, north of Tokyo. The pass is 8000 yen (about $55 USD) just wondering if anyone has used it and thinks it is worth it. We will be there for only 2 full days, it is a 4 day pass. There is a 2 day pass that only covers a much more limited area. I have not been to Nikko since 2009 and I remember that there was one bus that was ridiculously expensive considering the relatively short length it goes, I think it’s the one to the famous temple there. Considering all the places we want to go to, I think that the transport costs could add up really quickly there, but wondering if we should go for the four day pass or just the 2 day pass. Would like to hear about anyone’s experiences. I think that this can also be bought from Klook.
The temple area can easily be reached on foot from the Tobu / JR Nikko Stations if you are able bodied.
The pass is more helpful, in my opinion, if you wish to visit Oku-Nikko, the wonderful back corners of the national park. This would include the lovely Senjōgahara day hike leading up to Lake Yunoko and the super chill Yumoto Onsen:

I think it’s worth getting the pass for this purpose but not if you wish to just see the temples and Nikko City proper.
Btw, if you have a chance to take the Tobu Spacia X train from Tokyo, I recommend it. With varied seating arrangements, that train is impressive! If for whatever reason you end up taking JR trains to get around, you’ll be switching trains at Utsunomiya Station where this awesome gyoza place is located at ground level. Enjoy!
