Nintendo Dsi Accessory

Hey guys, I’m new in this forum and i would like to ask for help. I just bought a nintendo dsi because it’s quite cheap here in Taiwan. The question is where can I buy an R4 card here in Kaohsiung, I desperately need one. Thanks in advance!

anyone?

I think what you’re looking for is probably not completely legal, but keeping that in mind, you could probably find it on Ruten

I think it is not illegal in itself, though the prevailing uses of it are. Where did you get the DS? That might be a place to start if it was in a video game market of some kind and not a department store or big electronics store. In other words, stores in a video game market type of place will be able to hook you up. Any mom and pop type games store should be able to point you in the right direction. Don’t know anything specific about Kaohsiung but since no one responded.

No idea about down south, but there are lots of places to buy it up in Taipei.

Thanks for the replies. I bought the DSi in Taipei when I visited. But I’m stuck here in Kaohsiung because I’m studying here. I’m afraid to order online because of scams. I have checked a number of video game stores in Kaohsiung’s Computer Street but none of them were selling it. Are there any other video game stores in Kaohsiung that are more likely to sell it?

While it’s illegal, it’s all part of the business here, as long as you are discrete with your purchases you’ll be able to find it.

I bought an AceKard2i from a store in Taipei a few months ago, I found them because they posted a listing on the taiwanese yahoo auction/sales site. I’m sure you can either find a shop that sells online based in Kaoshoung or worst case have it sent from Taipei.

Let me know if you have difficulty hitting up the Chinese yahoo or pchome site. Maybe I can help you out a bit.

Hi all,

I’m looking to get an R4 too. I’m going to have a look at the underground mall in taipei this afternoon.

I dont know what I need to get exactly, I just want a bunch of games. I’m hoping I can convey this to someone at a shop / stall and they’ll be able to hook me up. I’ll repost here if I have any luck but if anyone has any suggestions in the meantime let me know.

fredofredo, i suggest you go to the Ximen Shopping Area and go to the Six Club building, they have R4s there. By the way, i tried to contact some ‘stores’ here in Kaohsiung and they could not understand my English. I really need to find a real store where I can browse the products. Hehe

thanks, I’ll give that a try. i went to one little shop in the mall and the guy told me you cant get r4s in taipei. he was a bit sheepish. he may have thought i was an undercover nintendo agent. i dont know. i thought the games here would be cheap but they are anything but.

whereabouts roughly is the six club building?

That’s where I bought mine too. The guy spoke English well and preloaded it with games for me. He also gives great service and will help you out if you have problems and need to go back for whatever reason.

Shopowners always say that because copyright laws are much stricter here in Taiwan, unlike where i came from. they’ll always tell you to order online instead of searching for R4s, which could be convenient if you are Taiwanese or plan on staying here for a while.

i can’t describe it in detail since i have only been in Taipei once. But the building is ten floors and it has a huge sign saying “The Six Club.” And yes it is a club, but the other floors are full of other stuff. There are also watches on display in the entrance, one brand i remember was Tissot. Anyway, you could always ask store keepers where the building is.

Did you go to just one? There must be 10.

Tempo Gain, i’m not sure, but maybe you’re right. Anyway, I’m still stuck here in Kaohsiung and I can’t get an R4 anywhere. If you guys have any ideas… i can’t find ‘underground’ shops here in Kaohsiung that sell R4s.

i did just go to the one shop in the mall. i was tired. so tired. today however i was brimming with energy and went to 3 shops in the club 6 building which i think, as you say is the wannian department store. the 3rd place i went to i think maybe the place someone else on here mentioned. 2 oldish guys (one in a very suave leather waistcoat) explained exactly what i needed, charged me $1000 for the lot and threw in a load of new games for an extra $100. thats just niiiice i thought to myself.

so, thanks guys. and good luck with your search in kaohsiung docbaca

I bought my wii and NDSL and r4 cards from the stores here, they can pretty much understand what you want if you just say “r4”.

Here’s their address in chinese, just copy and paste into google maps and bob’s your uncle!
