Bias but true nonetheless

Isn’t that like saying “It’s not racist if it’s true?”

More like, is he reporting or tweeting? More like tweeting but still a nice turn of phrase.

Couldn’t agree with Taibbi more here.

Here’s some new news:

https://edition.cnn.com/2021/01/21/tech/twitter-china-embassy-us-uyghur-intl-hnk/index.html

Hong Kong (CNN Business)China says that it is a “victim” of misinformation after Twitter restricted the account of the Chinese embassy in the United States.

The retort comes after Twitter (TWTR) temporarily locked the account of the Chinese embassy over a tweet it posted defending Beijing’s treatment of Uyghurs. The post, which was made earlier this month, claimed that Uyghur women in Xinjiang were no longer “baby-making machines.”

“In the process of eradicating extremism, the minds of [Uyghur] women in Xinjiang were emancipated and gender equality and reproductive health were promoted,” the tweet read, citing a report from state-run newspaper China Daily.

A Twitter spokesperson said that the tweet had violated the company’s content policy, which prohibits “the dehumanization of a group of people based on their religion, caste, age, disability, serious disease, national origin, race, or ethnicity.”

Read the headline.

Do a bit of guessing what you believe the article will probably be about.

Then, read it if you like…and find out you were wrong.

Honestly, I enjoy the media clowning themselves like this so much.

Not even a little surprised! Maybe you saw it, but Taibbi talks about this article in the piece I linked just above.

Yeah, I read Taibbi’s article this morning - he’s been on this for a while and. sadly, is nearly alone in his perspective among journalists.

It’s fun but troubling as you still have a lot of people (including many here) who will disagree with anything that doesn’t come from a handful of publication.

That’s actually a great article, it seems we agree on what we are seeing, perhaps we might even agree on why we are seeing it.

A common explanation is the media don’t see its role as being one of delivering news as much as being an instrument in which they bring about an outcome they desire. That’s the start of a more interesting discussion.

Sounds like an acute case of CNNDS.

Yep, CNN has it bad.

If someone spends that much time watching CNN, they should collect actual data. What a waste of time, sad.

CNN is best in very very small doses. At least they won’t be force-feeding it to air passengers anymore.

I agree, it’s funny people spend all day analyzing it. It’s not complicated, they do the occasional good interview, and milk stuff for ratings.

YouTube may have removed “spam” dislikes from a video posted by the White House after President Joe Biden took office. - Politifact

Yeah… “Spam”

Prolly all the Trump bots n trolls.

Do you ever actually read beyond the headline of the stuff you post? From your article:

So it is possible YouTube removed dislikes it deemed “spam” from videos posted by the White House account, including the Jan. 20 press briefing video. But there is no evidence YouTube deliberately removed authentic dislikes from the video to support the Biden administration or silence critics.

Of course, it’s standard right-wing response to read “there is no evidence” as “Aha! therefore it might have happened.”
