I can’t find BlueTac anywhere in Taiwan. I’ve been to stationary shops the size of small airports, and they may have 16 different kinds of scissors, and paper in 762 different colors. But they don’t have BlueTac.
I’ve tried cheap Taiwanese substitutes. But they all end up with the same result. Take it down, and a slab of concrete comes with it.
I bought mine from the local dongxi shop… the ones that sell (among other things) local mags, kids party goods, red envelopes, stationary, electric scooters…
They sell it on the second floor at the DIY Hardware store, where Hoping East Road and Keelung Road intersect, north west corner of the intersection where there’s a 1/4 roundabout… I just bought a pack there for NT$63. Bostik brand BLU TACK, “The original re-usable adhesive. Clean, safe and easy to use.”
I couldn’t find Blu-Tak here so got my Mum to send me some. But I had a hard time getting it off the walls of the last place, and there were still some marks.
I’m going to try something new for the new place. I’ve bought something called “Removable Mounting Tape”, sold under the Duck brand (the same as brand as regular Duck tape). It says it doesn’t leave any adhesive residue when you take it off. I’ll try it and report back.
I saw Blu-Tak and similar products on sale at B&Q (by the checkout) and in the Genius Bookstore in the Fuzhong are of Banqiao. Otherwise ask someone to bring some from Hong Kong, where it is readily available.
