I’m opening a business here in Kaohsiung. I have all the sufficient funds and I’ve completed all paperwork except the missing piece of the jigsaw which is a letter from the Dept. of labor. It’s taking an inordinate amount of time and my ARC expires on 25/12. As this is the second 6-month extension I fear the immigration bureau won’t be as generous as they have been in the past. Before I visit the immigration next week, does anyone know whether the one department (labor) is in coordination with the other department (immigration) and they will realize that there’s only 5 weeks left on the ARC? I gave the paperwork over to a company in Taipei who specializes in helping people set up a business. They’ve been excellent so far but the holdup isn’t their fault. I’m informed that there is a huge backlog of cases waiting to be reviewed due to the lockdown and due to foreigners being stranded here and realizing that it’s not a bad place to be.
