I was having some problems with my S5 eating up the battery in half a day, and someone recommended turning off the auto-back up. That worked well.
I also switched over to the Nova launcher, instead of TouchWiz. Works great, except I can’t seem to create folders on the homepage.
I keep the Power Saver function on, and Data, Location, Bluetooth and Screen Rotation off, except when needed, to optimise the battery life. I’m now getting a day’s worth of battery life, with the phone set up this way.
I store apps and photos on the micro-SD card.
I regularly clean the cache, and remove unused apps (including Samsung’s junky stuff).
Do you have any other tips and tricks for optimising an S5? Overall I’m happy with the phone but should have bought the 32G not 16G version, as it’s a tad slower.
