What did you do when prompted to choose a Japanese district as part of the delivery address? Did you just choose a random one and they still delivered to Singapore? Or do they now not deliver outside of Japan?
Here’s a resource I found for getting the exact 5 digit zip code for my shipping address, Amazon simply wouldn’t accept the 3 digits.

As far as I remember, any order over 100 USD has to be taxes/held by customs. Is this still correct? Does that imply a lot of paperwork -as the one in the Kindle thread? I would be ordering a single item over 200 bucks. usually, I’ll split the order to avoid this, but this is one single item.

I just ordered a Kindle along with a case last week…took 5 days to get here including the weekend. One package, closer to 200 bucks USD, no problem.
As long as you’re ordering from the Amazon international site I assume there won’t be an issue?
As long as Taiwan customs does not ask for taxes/extra paperwork, I’m cool. Yep, it is the official Amazon, not vendors through it. I hope it will be cool. I am also exploring Plan B, but that’s another story…

try to do it in "reverse ", sometimes it works:

I order from Amazon frequently. Especially now they offer free shipping to Taiwan.
For address, I use this format (# = your relevant numbers):
#Floor, Apartment or House#, Lane#, Street Name, District Name, City Name, Zip Code, Taiwan

The post office has a list of romanization for roads and they will be so nice as to give you a sticker or magnet with your residence area mail code.
P.O boxes are very affordable here and simplify international deliveries a lot. 300 ntd a year.
Moreover, if you do not live in a building with a guard, waiting for the postman gets really weary…
Has anyone ever returned something to Amazon US? Got a broken laptop, and they say I have to ship on my own. 20usd will be credited. I doubt I can send it insured for 1500usd below 100 USD? What’s the best way to return?

So I made my first order on Amazon. The book was about 300 nt and shipping more than doubled that. I was a bit put off by the shipping cost. Would it have been better to order a few more books? How is shipping calculated on Amazon? Thanks.
I’ve successfully ordered from Amazon, but not books as most won’t ship to Taiwan, and shipping is expensive if they do.

Edit… however they are sometimes slower in delivery than Amazon. I’ve had to wait up to a month from the books site.
Honestly I’d just buy e books. No delivery problems.

For deliveries to TW, you need to order at least 60USD to get free shipping. Not everything will qualify - it should say “free shipping” under the item listing.
Not sure if this is an overall change or specific to overseas deliveries: for most of the Amazon packages I’ve received here, the items are tossed into a box with a few airbags but not enough to prevent everything from banging around and getting dented corners. Years ago in the US, everything would be shrink-wrapped together to a cardboard backing.
