Parking during CNY

I have a question about parking during CNY in Xindian. In the 20 years I’ve been here, I’ve always been told that the CNY day, you won’t get parking tickets in places where you normally would, like red lines and bus stops. I always see other people doing this also.

Well this year, I happened to see one spot available at a bus stop. There were other cars also in the bus stop, so I decided to park there. The wife’s family even thought it was ok. Well, apparently it wasn’t as I recently got a ticket for it.

Was it acceptable in years past, but not anymore? If that’s the case, I wish I would have known. Thanks.

The times they are a changing.

Especially in the capital (and perhaps now too in Xinbei) it seems the government is more likely (not always) to enforce parking rules and collect their booty when possible.

Well this year, I happened to see one spot available at a bus stop. There were other cars also in the bus stop, so I decided to park there.

It’s a bus stop, not a red line but an actual working bus stop where people board buses.

And people like this is why traffic barely moves in Danshui. That and the shitty Danshui Bus Company.
