Part-time job work permit for spouse of ARC holder

Hi everyone,

I am a ARC holder (not Taiwanese), I would like my wife to Taiwan to live with me but I have some concerns about the work permit.

As I read on ezworktaiwan, currently, there are 2 types of work permits for dependent ARC holder:

  • Full-time job with more salary more than 47,971NTD (of course all of other requirements already met)
  • Partly-hour job with 200NTD/hour

However, my wife needs to improve her Chinese before she can join the job market so she will attend a language course program. I would like to know if she can take the part-time jobs (waitress, cashier in restaurant or night market kiosk) in the meantime.

I mean can she obtain work permit to take those jobs with her dependent ARC?

She can obtain a work permit, but only through her company/employer. And not all of them can guarantee it for foreigners, that’s the problem.

Thank you for your response. Do you know in case my wife attend to degree program, do she need to switch ARC status from dependent to study for the work permit?
