Part-time Work and Permit Questions

Hello everyone,

Just stumbled across this site, so sorry if this information has been already recently posted.

I’m living in Korea at the moment, but looking to transition over to Taiwan to work and study in the summer, so I hope to get this all sorted before then. Since I’m currently working on an online-based master’s degree, I was aiming to get a work permit for a part-time gig in Taipei. I read this thread about visa’s and permits, and it sounds like getting the permit first would allow me to get the appropriate visa? It would be the resident visa, correct?

What country or countries are you a citizen of?

If your plan is a part-time English teacher, and you are eligible for the job, minimum to get a work permit is 14hr per week.

If you have the work permit, you can get a residence visa. Or you can enter Taiwan first without a work permit on a visitor visa or visa exempt, and get a work permit here, then get an ARC.

Apologies! Forgot to include that before. I’m American.

Thank you so much for the info!
