Why does it have to look so Mickey Mouse though? The weird font makes it look like it could be a fake.

I checked my old passports and I have one that has two "VOID"s and three "CANCELLED"s from Taiwan in it. No migration issues at all - these were all just from when NIA made mistakes and the occasional visa switch.
It sounds like the stamp was made in error so it was voided.
The hole is a security feature by the way, often just dot matrix of the passport number or other identifying feature.

Armed with the feedback here, I was able to go back to the person (whoâs not the sharpest knife in the drawer) and say to them âThere must be a stamp youâve missed in your passport. Please send me a photo of every page, including the blank onesâ.
As you all surmised, it seems that the stamp was indeed voided because it was not legible, since it turns out that there is another stamp with the same date that is legible that I didnât get the first time round.
