Pectolin, Kaopectate, or other kaolin-pectin mixture?

This stuff is made in Taiwan and is not expensive, but I’ve stopped at one pharmacy after another, and none have heard of it. I know I bought some at a local pharmacy a couple of years ago, and it looked exactly like this:

I’m in eastern Taipei. Thanks!

Update: I called info to get the number (down south) of the manufacturer, and they gave me the name of their distributor, who gave me the addresses and phone numbers of some of their Taipei retail outlets. I’ve long since misplaced that info, and have since found that

  1. my local pharmacist makes up his own from kaolin and pectate, and sells it in tiny unmarked bottles. If you want, PM me and I’ll get his address (Donghu, in Neihu).

  2. the Tianshui Lu chemists supply the kaolin and pectate. Although a bag of each isn’t cheap, if you plan on going through a dozen or more bottles of kaopectate in a year or so, you’d save money by mixing your own.

You should darn well change your eating habits.

 Yeah. But some people have Irritable Bowel Syndrome or other medical reasons.

So which of these will stop the endless diarrhea? I (against my better judgement) ate chinese chittlins last weekend and I have been feeling like crap.

Immodium. But if it keeps up you should see a doctor.

Yeah I was planning to go if it lasts over 2 weeks. Pretty sure its just something I picked up from that food as I can trace the feeling to exactly after that meal.

No, if it’s serious you should see a doc if it lasts more than a couple days.

Should I go to an ER or just a GP in one of the offices around? Do they both have the registration fee of 250$ on NHI?

I have to catch a flight to SG tonight but I will take your advice and check out a Dr. on Monday if the Imodium doesn’t clear it up.

If you’re flying tonight, I’d go to a GP in a local clinic now. Registration fees are often around $150, no biggee. And you could ALSO go ahead and phone in an appointment at the gastroenterology dept. of any nearby hospital for Monday (腸胃科 chang2wei4ke1) just in case you’re not better by then. That get’s you an earlier waiting number; better than waiting till Monday to call.

I would go today but I have work I need to close out before my ride picks me up for airport.

Immodium cleared me up in like 4 hours. Thanks OTC medicine.
