People exposing their ignorance

With OZ at 592 for 9 I hope to god the pitch is flat and that we hit 800!

What is this thread about?

Ice hockey. And Canada. And bashing the locals for daring to have a living cultural tradition.

It’s also about CRICKET.

Oh I see.
I have lots of crickets living outside.
They sometimes keep me awake at night.

I dont swear often but please fuck off out of this thread.

Someone once said TomHill was a serious poster, but I didn’t believe them.

In my country hockey is a game for women!

Can someone explain cricket to me? I’ve never really understood it, nor the fascination it seems to exert over some people.

And pouffes.

Oi! Field hockey is the most violent and dangerous game I’ve ever played. I have three broken fingers, a broken first metatarsal (left foot), a ruptured cruciate ligament and been knocked out twice thanks to this “women’s game”. Worst I ever had from any other sport was concussion from rugby.

Oh, we’re playing bash the Canadian? Sorry. I’d come up with a moose joke, but I’m sure it wouldn’t be funny.

Bollocks, Strauss has just gone for 12. There’s no way we’re going to save this game.

Its not for your generation of thrill seekers. Cricket is for those able to delay gratification, not thrill seekers like you, and your (probably) ice-hockey buddies.

Not a bit of it. I am all about delayed gratification. I’ve been waiting decades to derive pleasure from cricket. If you could communicate your enthusiasm before I reach, say, 60, that would be appreciated.

For instance, how does the scoring work? How do you tally the goals?

I have no pateince to go into the mechanics of cricket. I am sure wikipedia provide a dumb version of the rules.
What I will say is that cricket is a game of skill and dedication. It is a game of mental endurance and physical toughness. It is a game of high morals and good behaviour. It is a game of exact skill and not of chance. It is less about the moment than about the whole. It is about the past and also about the future. It is about tactics and debate. The whole of life is embedded in a game of cricket.

Maturity, delayed gratification, exact skills, high morals and good behaviour . . . ? I suppose Shane Warne is the very embodiment of cricket’s lofty ideals?
Shane Warne hit by new sex scandal
The Sunday Mirror revealed Warne’s one-night stand with Laura, who was not very complimentary about his style.
“It was all over very quickly. He wasn’t very well endowed,” she said.

HG

Its the most horrendously boring “game” in the history of mankind. I was forced to play (read sit in the outfield) as a kid and will never (NEVER) see the attraction of it. Cricket stinks. It is good for a tent with beer and and excuse for the Mrs for coming home drunk (Sorry pet cricket with clients, hic) but not much else. If anyone tries to claim otherwise I will happily fight them!

Edgar I am very happy to see you back on the boards. Even if it is to trash my beloved game. You aren’t one of those bloody rugby UNION fans are you?

What’s wrong with rugby union?

Its bloody? :idunno:

Why bother with pansy cricket when you’ve got baseball. Please…

Sorry folks, we took your lame game and made it much better.

(there…that ought to rile them… )

ps. NHL hockey rules.
