Videos are going viral of people traveling to the US for the first and getting a good idea of what the place is like.
Of course they’ll be going back to their home countries carrying a few extra pounds across the mid section ![]()

Sure, because food is often less regulated and more artificial in the US. Along with “fast food”, “big box stores”, and essentially non-existent public transportation or societal safety net, the US is best taken in small doses right now from people in more developed countries.
I don’t think you realize none of these aspects of US living are really bragging points.
I don’t think you realize how lucky you are to be an American and if what you’re saying is correct, then why does every fancy downtown area of industrial nations looks like an American outlet mall?
Why then does every upscale neighborhood look like and American suburb?
Why do elites send their kids to America (ahem Carney ahem)
It’s just that America takes those things and makes it outrageous
It really saddens me that you despise your country so. Do you know why these "developed " nations can be developed? Because the US foots the bill and the burden in protecting them and their trade.
We might see an immigration boom in the coming years from all those people who go for the world cup matches. Lots of new citizens from 47 countries all over the world!
Lol that will piss him off.
They really don’t. Have you been to an American mall recently? The few that are still open are half empty because, unlike those other countries with bustling busy malls (people like to shop, that’s not an American thing) they have thriving economies instead of the hollowed out incipient oligarchy that the USA is becoming.
Again, they really don’t - have you actually been to any other countries? The few who have wholely emulated the American style did so a long time ago due to American developers setting the tone back then. Nobody does that anymore.
Wow, this is getting repetitious - they don’t anymore. Just the last year alone saw a drop in foreign enrollment of >17%.
Speaking only for myself, I don’t despise America or the American people, I just despise the people who are turning it into a shithole country, and like many others, I also don’t want to be there as it’s happening!
The world has changed a lot in the last 30 years, you need to travel and open your eyes, nothing about the America that you imagine and project on this site is true anymore, most of it by 10-20+ years! ![]()
I mean, you do you, feel free to keep re-living the glory days as you please, but don’t expect people to join you in the rah-rah-rah after the game’s been over for that long! ![]()
I watched a video of a Brit guy with his kids who got In and Out Burger every day. He was amazed the food came out perfectly each time. ![]()
Whoohoo Merika!
Because it will be! ![]()
I just find it crazy that the USA first had to export quality control principles to Japan before adopting them internally! ![]()
Do as I say, not as I do, ya filthy heathens!
Indeed, many people are angry-annoyed by the wanton increase in prices for the world cup. 20 bucks for a beer. Yikes! 150 for a bus ride that was 12.50. Stone the crows.
There must be a reckoning for FIFA and ‘Johnny’ Infantino when this rip-off cup is done. At least tourists can go home, but Americans are still left with the inflation. No amount of Jingoism can negate that.
There’s a large number of Americans moving to Europe from what I’ve heard, especially Southern Europe e.g. Portugal , and why not if you can I guess. House prices, living costs, food quality , it’s hard to beat. Bizarrely there are now more Americans moving to Ireland than Irish moving to the US.
I have family members that have emigrated to the US, earning big bucks but spending mega bucks too. It’s insanely expensive especially California.
Don’t bet on it, rememeber they are brought and paid for almost ten years in advance. Next one is in Portugal , Spain and Morocco which is awesome, but the following one is in Saudi Arabia
. So shit. One of the worst places you can imagine holding a world cup and even after Qatar had it.
Enjoy this one and the next one.
Chill and relax ,![]()
Awesome, yes, countries that actually play soccer. I’ll stay open-minded on Saudi. I actually liked the world cup, the actual soccer, in Quatar. I saw the final live on the plane flying Emirates to Abu Dhabi. Great final, 3-3.
Dude, boohoo. Go to any outdoor venue in NY and you’ll pay that for a $5 IPA. ![]()
Yes, but even that is a testament to the US earning potential. Someone with an Italian income and career path is not retiring at 55 in Portugal.
My father in law is an immigration lawyer, and a lot of people now want 2nd passports as a flex and a european 2nd home. More and more real estate agents in Italy are learning they can cater to Americans buying a 2nd or retirement home.
I myself helped an American women buy a house in Paris when the Eur was really down compared to the USD a few years ago as a retirement asset in her retirement portfolio. She just can’t live there until she retires for tax benefits.
I suspect this will happen more as US wealth, even if unevenly, still is pulling away from Europe overall. With less and less children, I suspect Americans will buy up some lesser desired homes for this purpose.
