You think Taiwan Costco is leaving money on the table because 1 cheap foreigner doesn’t have fridge space for guacamole? roflmao
Multiple of Taiwan’s stores are the most profitable. Maybe you should just cancel your membership buddy ![]()

Its simple maths mate. I go there once every couple of months right now.
If their system was more to my liking I would go there multiple times a week.
You tell me which option would earn more money.
…and not that many Costco stores in Taiwan at all.
The closest Carrefour for me is less than 5min walk. Driving to the nearest Costco and back takes 1h+.
Sure, some people might live next to a Costco - but most people in Taiwan don’t.
You play a monthly membership and only go there every few months. You give them free money. Wow totally owned them.
Just imagine how much of their stuff ends up in landfill as their customers can’t consume it all, and the health impact if they do consume it all.
Costco should be banned for environmental and health reasons.
Hence why I feel that Costco is not a real alternative to Carrefour…
Ive had it twice in the 10 yrs i’ve been here. Probably would have been zero times if ground beef was widely available in supermarkets.
It is unavoidable…it is their destiny.
Taiwan…like Korea…are now…Costco’s
American Costco is quite safe from the French’s pitiful little band.
I think its similar to ikea. Going to Costco and ikea offers an experience for Taiwanese. Even if you don’t buy anything. Its kind of a family day out for a lot of people.
IKEA has a play area and ice cream for the younglings.
COSTCO has that food area too
…carrefour has failed Taiwan for the last time
Are there nice comfy couches at Costco to use to relax?
Asking for a friend. ![]()

The funniest thing at Costco here (and they do this in Korea too!) is how people take advantage of the free onions that are supposed to be for the hot dogs… just putting them in a giant pile on their paper plates and then mixing in ketchup and mustard and turning it into some kind of weird “salad”… but hey, it’s free!
Free stuff is a cultural thing.
I am as cheap as the next guy, but that Costco move is for me several steps too far! ![]()
Guy
Yea theres usually some sort of furniture
Yes but is it COMFY furniture like what we can find in Ikea? ![]()
Guy
At least you don’t have to buy 100 sofas at a time at Ikea…
Costco is more like alibaba
You mean being a cheap c*%# ?
