Police raids today and tomorrow

just passing on the heavy rumors that today and tomorrow will see random police raids on kindies…those in the loop should have given their teachers the day(s) off…the rest; watch your back and hide in the closet if you smell bacon…any one else heard this whisper?

Heard it a plenty. A few people have been told not to bother coming in today in case.

bacon?..does anyone still refer to the police as…‘pigs’?

geeesh…what a friggin time warp…lol

Must be a Taipei area raid…haven’t heard anything here…

They came last Saturday morning to check my school, even though we don’t have a pre-school. Didn’t think the CLA worked on Saturdays. They must be getting desparate to meet their quotas.

Meanwhile, at this unnamed backwoods outpost, I spent last week taking my kindy kids on a field trip to the local police office- our main presenter being a certain Foreign Affairs Officer who has been previously discussed at this forum.

At least he knows where to catch you, then.

reminds me of when a mate of mine was picked up in a crackdown for teaching illegally and his own student was part of the team…

Ha. That’s hilarious. Care to tell us what happened to him?

keeps them busy, what else should they do? Search Chinese spies? Catch gangsters or dirty politicians?

Illegal kindy teachers are a danger to public order. Who knows what they are telling the kids.

Ever thought about the consequenses for the children when they see their loved teacher arrested by Mr. police. :s

Something similar happened to me a few years back- I’d been working for a local kindy for a few years and the owner asked me if I wanted to do some hours at his new location.

Big brand new place, lots of ads, lots of publicity, open for six months, license above the front desk- except the license was for an entirely different school the owner had opened years before in a different location. I wasn’t there when the place got raided, but went down to help out one of our buxiban’s teachers who was.

Cops decided they needed a statement from me:
“Are you working at any other Kindergartens?”

“You mean other than the one that four out of the five of you in this room see me at every morning when you drop off your kids?”

That comment never got in the report.

actually what is sillier is that he wasnt even picked up in a raid…he’d overstayed his visa and went to the local cop shop to dob himself in…they asked him where he worked and nimrod that he is he told them the kindy name…happened that there was a crackdown on so they pretended they’d caught him teaching and called the papers…

upshot was his missus had to take someone from foreign affairs out for a sumptious banquet so they could accidently erase his blackmark in the system and allow him to get back in the country after the deportation…

Well, the Taiwanese police’s timing is, as always, perfect…it’s not as if they’re planning a big raid on a day when most schools will be closed due to typhoon weather, or anything.
