Political Satire and Political Jokes - Part 3

MLK’s Daughter on Abe Lincoln: He’s Known for Signing Declaration of Independence ← video

This has got to be satire…right?.. :ponder:

(MLK was also a Republican)

Weren’t they a bit different in them days?
The American Academy of Pediatrics would like to correct false statements made in the Republican presidential campaign that HPV vaccine is dangerous and can cause mental retardation," the American Academy of Pediatrics said in a statement Tuesday.

“There is absolutely no scientific validity to this statement. Since the vaccine has been introduced, more than 35 million doses have been administered, and it has an excellent safety record,” the academy’s release said.

But on the Today show Tuesday morning, Bachmann went further, telling Matt Lauer, that a mother had approached her after the debate to recount the problems her daughter had after being vaccinated against HPV:

She told me that her little daughter took that vaccine, that injection. And she suffered from mental retardation thereafter.
Reporter: “And what did you say to her?”

Michelle: "I said ‘Not now, Mom, I’m busy.’ "
President Confident of Re-election
By John Semmens

Despite unanimous polling trends showing increasing dissatisfaction with his job performance, President Obama says he’s confident he’ll come out on top after the ballots are counted in November 2012.

“In 2008 I was a virtual nobody,” Obama recalled. “Now I’m the president. Just being the president gives you a big leg up on all the up-and-coming nobodies who want to take your place. Consequently, I’d have to say that the odds of me being re-elected are much higher than the odds of me being elected in the first place.”

The president boasted that “my ideas are the key. I have more of them than anyone I know. Just ask my staff. For every idea we’ve tried that hasn’t worked there are at least a dozen more waiting in line for their turn. I think voters will appreciate my intellectual fertility compared to the GOP’s simplistic message.”

Obama advisor David Axelrod echoed the President’s confidence. “The lower taxes/less government mantra that the Republicans are trying to sell doesn’t resonate with the average American,” Axelrod contended. “Voters want a government that cares enough to try. I mean, isn’t it better to be in the barrel with the guy who has the nerve to tackle Niagara Falls than to be ‘nay-saying’ from the sidelines?”

“Plus, let’s not overlook the considerable advantages that incumbency has for President Obama,” Axelrod added. “For example, his recent Executive Order granting amnesty to illegal immigrants gives him a lock on the Hispanic vote. And he’s got more than a year to further tilt the playing field in his favor.”
…I guess this is satire… :ponder:

 That’s funny!

Apparently, this is real:

With an political eye to the 2012 U.S. Presidential elections, a bold move has been made by the current President:

President Obama Converts to Judaism to Secure Jewish Vote for 2012
(excerpt)
"WASHINGTON – In a stunning move that caught the entire White House by surprise, President Barack (Baruch) Obama announced today he will be converting to Judaism.

Inside sources indicate that Obama has been contemplating this shift for some time, since confidence in the President among Jews has eroded greatly in recent months. With an eye towards the 2012 elections, this is certain to shore up his electoral base. Critics, however, may certainly view this with some skepticism.

“I was born Muslim, became a Christian, and now will become Jew – it is part of my evolution,” stated President Obama. “Now I can better appreciate the trials and tribulations of ‘my people’. I was the first African-American President, and now I am the first Jewish President."

"Michelle (Malka) Obama commented, “I have never been so proud of Barack – I mean Baruch – in my life.”
In an earlier visit to Jerusalem

Not really “ha-ha funny”.

Jaboney, you always come up with gold.

Comes up with the gold does he? Excellent because a lot of gold is going to be needed to pay for all those climate change initiatives… and to pay for all the unemployment that implementing these initiatives will result in… and more important, and I may have missed this part of the joke so help me here, the scientists have also come up with a solution that will lead to specific measurable benefits at reasonable economic costs? So, the scientists KNOW that by reducing CO2 levels to x y or z that they will stave off global warming of x y or z degrees? My understanding was that Kyoto IF implemented fully would lead to postponing global warming by six years MAXIMUM over the next 100. THAT is in the best-case scenario… so in the scheme of thousands of years, buying an extra six at trillions of dollars of cost and trillions of dollars of lost development… Hmmm…

And can you explain to me how a fund worth hundreds of billions of dollars will be well spent? So if I give $500 million per year to Kiribati, what initiatives will be implemented to lead to what benefit? Kiribati has no capacity for governance or policy implementation so… what will this money be used for? and who will monitor it?

I think that is very funny. Good one, Jaboney! It hits the nail on the head. Global warming is not a political football, it is a probable global environmental disaster in progress.

The issue is that it is not probable but definitely occurring. You achieve the gold star in political satire with your most recent comment. Hugely satirical but do you understand why? The science of global warming is supposed to be definite not probable… so er were you supporting my skepticism intentionally or unintentionally. Back to you for more humor.

Canada on Monday became the first country to announce it would withdraw from the Kyoto protocol on climate change
, dealing a symbolic blow to the already troubled global treaty.

Environment Minister Peter Kent broke the news on his return from talks in Durban, where countries agreed to extend Kyoto for five years and hammer out a new deal forcing all big polluters for the first time to limit greenhouse gas emissions.

Canada, a major energy producer which critics complain is becoming a climate renegade, has long complained Kyoto is unworkable precisely because it excludes so many significant emitters.

“As we’ve said, Kyoto for Canada is in the past … We are invoking our legal right to formally withdraw from Kyoto,” Kent told reporters.

The right-of-centre Conservative government of Prime Minister Stephen Harper, which has close ties to the energy sector, says Canada would be subject to penalties equivalent to C$14 billion (8.7 billion pounds) under the terms of the treaty for not cutting emissions by the required amount by 2012.

“To meet the targets under Kyoto for 2012 would be the equivalent of either removing every car truck, all-terrain vehicle, tractor, ambulance, police car and vehicle off every kind of Canadian road,” said Kent.
Imagine that: you do nothing for years, and the costs become prohibitive when the deadline looms. Who would’ve thunk it? :cactus:

Oh, gosh, me and me and ME and I have been posting about the same for the better part of six years here on this very subject. I am SOOOOO surprised!  :roflmao:
