Yep I would definitely leave as well . My colleagues all know that too.
Same. We enjoy living here, but we lived in China for 5 years. Never again.
SO is talking Europe after this. Iām down with that.
Iām not going anywhere
over my dead body
Be careful what you wish for!
nah honestly donāt care. My family I care , me no.
Iām at the age where Iām not moving anywhere for anyone.
Iām not just considering myself but my kids in particular. Look at HK.

Agree, my kids are grown up now and they have dual passports. If I.had kids under 18 yes Iād leave with them but, I donāt so Iām staying ![]()
Invested in this place. I donāt really have anywhere else to go. Taiwan is my home. I canāt stand if it turns into China
Me too. I couldnāt bear it.
I went by a pair of polling places this morning and turnout appeared to be far, far, far fewer people than two years ago with average age even older than this board. Perhaps the younger generations were sleeping in?
A few hours later, lines were nearly non-existent. I asked a person at the gate what the wait would be and she said less than ten minutes.
Scuttlebutt is that Han is going to get it. Iām praying that is not the case.
I had never heard the term āscuttlebuttā before. Learn something every day.
Based on what?
I went past a polling station this morning around 8am close to wan long, and long queues(old ppl). Went with the wife to vote in daan around an hour ago and no queues, nor was there any young ppl.
Having said the above, a lot of young ppl flying in from china and HK(or at least every single Taiwanese I know is flying in), but it is not matching with what I saw at the polling stationsā¦

Young people donāt own property in Daan.
Even if they live there (as renters, or as students) thatās not where they vote.
Guy
I am young and own, but yeah, true.
Daan is going blue, no question about that.
Daan is going blue
Daan is predictable.
It wonāt be a battleground or a deciding factor in this election.
Guy
Although, a fair amount of young ppl have their hukou in daan despite living somewhere else⦠Not sure how common that is, but I know some who live in e.g. kaoshiung and are coming back to Taipei to vote.
I have a tough time believing the Hanster can make up his polling deficit, but the stories about the polling lines donāt fill me with confidence. I guess weāll know in 2 hours or so.

I know of a large group of old people who flew in last week as part of a large group associated with a well-known religious organization. All hold passports outside of Taiwan, none have paid taxes here in decades and all are voting for the fish. Money for old people = money they can donate to the gods.
I have seen a lot of reports of long lines but havenāt talked to anybody who has been required to wait. I donāt know that Iāve ever seen an off-year election in a democracy have a larger turnout than a year in which people at the top are voted for.
