POPEYES was coming, now it's here!

“Meat pastes” are always best avoided. Solid rule of thumb.

So wait, are you saying that you cannot order at the counter, you can only order with a QR code but you can pay at the counter?

Not a surprise but thats retarded.

Yes that is what I am saying.

And any labour saved by the tiresome QR code approach is lost as the workers then need to carry the food to the correct table, like waiters. I don’t think this is a good approach, but what do I know. If they keep their sandwiches this good I will forgive them. :joy:

Wonder how a person orders without a phone?

Yes they have it!

These I did not see tonight.

I was in-and-out in a mere two hours.

I hope not. That sandwich was good!

Party pooper!

And the Popeye?

Considered fast food then?

No pics? Don’t leave us hanging.

Yes. With disposable everything. I think you’d hate it.

Thanks for taking one for the team. I might have to go. I am a fan of the cole slaw too

I think the cole slaw works quite nicely. It provides extra moisture as we’re pounded by the summer heat. And like the side of cabbage served with tonkatsu in Japan, it makes sense to have some veggies on the side to balance the meat.

Only makes me more curious. I won’t do 2 hours for a take away burger though.

The coleslaw actually has me interested. Taiwan has all the fixings, but it’s not as popular/common as one would of expected it seems.

Edit. I have seen people take their own containers to mcdonalds in Taipei. Even during covid. The disposable thing goes both ways.

There seems to be a lot of love for the new Popeyes on here, but not so much on Google maps. Only 3.6 stars with many long write-ups about negative experiences.

A lot of people are saying its too dry. Not sure if its the fault of the restaurant or Taiwnaese tastes. Taiwanese fave type of fried chicken is basically dripping in oil. So it could be that, and if thats the case i hope they don’t change the taste.

Most of the customers I saw tonight were gnawing away on drum sticks and the like, with some fries. They should have paired the meat with cole slaw!

I loved cole slaw when I was in the US. This dish is too often missing in so many other countries!

Given the crowds, I thought the staff there were great—though of course things did take time. These guys should chill out, really.

I think most of you are missing the point about the QR code. The stated aim is to save labor, but that’s not what QR codes are for.

They want your data. That’s the only reason why they want you to order with QR codes. If you got outdated phones and QR code doesn’t work on your phone (seen it happen)? Your missed business is nothing compared to how much more they get from data brokers.

Hence having to scan with QR code and then pay cash, because how you order, your patterns, etc. is worth money to data brokers.

As much as Popeyes seem good, I think I’ll wait a year before I go. It’s like Krispy Cream, the first store that opens have lines for hours and hours. If I’m going to spend hours in line in this heat it’s better be damn near free, otherwise I’m going elsewhere. Don’t care how good the food is.

Popeyes is THE best fried chicken of all the fast food chickens here in the USA

Although some stores are better than others

Still gotta get em fresh from the oven

Their mash potato are the best with that Louisiana gravy
Yum yum
