Private blog?

I would like to know if there is a type of private blog that I could use for family matters only where members have to log in. In other words, I’m thinking of startig a mini forumosa for family members and friends only. Please help.

The reason why I’m thinking of a private blog is that even though I think the normal blogs are a good idea, there might be dangers associated with it especially if you give away private info to all and sundry.

I think that on blogger.com you can make it private. Check it out to see.

Best of luck :rainbow:

I’m fairly sure the software that this forum uses can be configured such that in order to read the posts, you’d have to log in first. I know I’ve seen other forums where that is the case. It might just be a matter of changing the permissions on the forums.

That said, I’m just guessing, and I’ve never really installed software like what you are talking about.

Edit: come to think of it, the women’s forum might be an example of what I’m talking about. The forum is there, but I’ve never seen it because I don’t have an account with the proper permissions.

You will need to decide if you want a blog or a forum, and take it from there.

dear Rinkals,

There are several options that you can use to create a private area, such as PHPBB for forums, Wordpress for blog, etc, though you might have to tweak some of the options to set it to purely private. It wouldn’t be difficult to set it up, though it might require some instruction on how to do it, and help to manage the website in the short term.

If you’re looking for suitable webhosting to go with that, and some metaphorical handholding, I’d be quite happy to set you up with your own blog or whatever, and help you attain the level of privacy you need for your family bloggings. I’ve already helped out several people with different kinds of websites. Though my website hosting is inexpensive, my information and time on managing it are ‘gratis’.

Let me know. You can check out some of the ‘standard’ offerings that I have: tesolteachers.com/ I can however design the set up to suit whatever your needs may be.

Mods please edit this if it is not suitable!

Anyhow, best
Kenneth
